The Womens' programs were amazingly beautiful, and the growth in the dynamic of the jumps over the years has really elevated the watching audience.
The tiny Russian was so skilled technically and her flexibility beyond ...beyond. The coaching and choreographers go where needed or where the money is...proud to say one of the choreographers for the Amercian's routine was by a Canadian...Shae-Lynn Bourne. Countries helping countries...spirit of sport knows no boundaries!
Well Canadians are neck and neck with the USA in team event!!!

wooohooo! I just discovered that the NBC Sports Network channel (NBCSN) will carry FS live! so, Tomorrow morning at 9:30 am EST they will have the team dance, and at 11 am EST - team ladies. miraculously I have this channel in my cable package, so no need watching on my laptop! You are so lucky to have seen Yagudin skate in person, Nica!! Yes, I have watched some of the current show and love seeing Alexei and Irina! Don't understand a word they are saying though, beyond spasiba, lol. As for sites, my faves are FSUniverse.net (which is more global) and GoldenSkate.com. There is also a super-snarky site called TheSkatingLesson.com, which is run by Dave Lease (who used to run a site called Aunt Joyce's Ice Cream Stand). Former skater Jenny Kirk just left to concentrate on her studies. Opinions can be a bit grating there, and Jenny and Dave def had their favorites and biases, but there are some amazing interviews with coaches, choreographers, and skaters and a very "insidery" vibe. (I always wondered how Jenny could make such biting commentary as a pretty high-profile former skater, but the politics in skating are no secret, I suppose. Plus Michelle Kwan is a fan of TSL.) So happy Russian pairs are back to form! Absolutely nobody can skate with more grace. (That goes for gymnastics too!) Thank you for the sites, junkets! I'll check them out! Today was interesting! and it does look like the Russians got not only their excellence back but the depth of the talent as well.

Really enjoyed the new team competition. Hopefully they will move it to end of Olys next time though. Yulia was mesmerizing in both her skates. Think my Russian-born six-year-old son has a new crush. So cute! I've also realized a new-found appreciation of ice dancing courtesy of White and Davis. (This and watching my faves who can no longer do the big jumps but who make me appreciate other factors in skating.) I also found a twitter account in my perennial lurking that's quite good for keeping up with skating. And from the person's avi, I recognized the person as someone after my own heart twitter.com/askatingfanatic (too lazy to figure out how to get emoticons with this new format on my phone right now!)

That was only supposed to be mildly cryptic, not completely incomprehensible! I think I wrote it just before falling asleep. Anyway, the twitter name is PassionateSkate. I mistakenly referenced the user name.
