Queen and the 32-year-old Indianapolis native first performed together five years ago on “American Idol” when mega-Queen fan contestant Lambert placed second. The tour kicks off June 19 at the 23,500-seat United Center in Chicago and continues through July 20 with a final gig in Washington, D.C. at the 19,319-seat Merriweather Post Pavilion. The tour makes a Southern California stop July 3 in Inglewood at the newly-renovated 18,000-seat Forum. When asked at a press conference announcing the tour about Queen’s only surviving non-participating member, 62-year-old bassist John Deacon, the band said the bassist doesn’t wish to keep in touch with them. “He wants to be private and in his own universe,” said 66-yearold guitarist Brian May. Drummer Roger Taylor, 64, added: “He’s completely retired from any kind of social contact. That’s fair enough. We respect that.” |
