Just want to say about I want to break free - love the song, not the video. I really enjoy Adam's live versions with Queen. I was singing it a few weeks ago while watching the you tubes of QAL and my son and his friends in their 20's started singing it and knew every word - I asked him how they knew the song so well because it doesn't get much radio play and he said "Mom, everyone has Queen's Greatest Hits so we know all those songs". They have never seen the video, don't associate the song with it and think it's a great song. Can't wait to hear it live myself.
It's a funny way of pointing out the difference between the UK and US. The UK? They LOVE this video. It is often named among the favorites of Queen videos. Probably because it lambastes a very popular soap opera there (Coronation Street). Hell, Coronation Street (which is still running) recorded their own version not too long ago. Americans? They aren't nearly as big a fan.
I love it just because it makes me laugh. I love how Freddie of all people plays the housewife...and I always think Roger looks way too good as the young school girl
I could do without the ballet middle but even that has it's moments.
I though am not a huge huge fan of the song, especially the studio versions for the reasons Q3 mentioned. It was Queen *TRYING* to produce more "Queen" songs after the Hot Space debacle, but it is still far too synthesized. LIVE, the track works MUCH better. (I love Rog's backing vocals - actually hell, I like hearing Roger sing it too:
)
This is a track which I think Adam excels on myself and I *LOVE* the new guitar intro Brian added to the synths that was first performed on QAL.
