1. Brian did not cut his hair off - definitely photoshopped. I'd believe John came back before Brian cut his hair (unless it was for charity or something)
2. I am unfortunately NOT the guy in the YT vid BUT I do play him on TV
That is much LIKE me and my kids but this is not the case here
Sorry this is so late today:
TALON'S TAKE:
HangmanWritten by: Freddie Mercury/Brian May
Musicians:
Freddie Mercury - vocals
Brian May - guitars, vocals
John Deacon - bass guitar
Roger Taylor - drums, percussion, vocals
- For a long time Queen Productions has denied that a studio version even existed although there are several live versions on bootlegs. The one above comes from 11/26/73 in Manchester.
- Despite the denials a very famous Queen collector has an acetate of a studio recording in his possession. It's not going to leak anytime soon and there is some tension between the collector and some parties at QP (over an issue where said collector loaned QP a copy of an Ibex concert (Freddie's pre-band) for usage on the massive Freddie box set and somehow someway, the tape was "lost".
-This was performed up through 1975 although always sporadically.
- According to another collector who asked Brian about it - Brian confirmed that he wrote the music and Freddie wrote the lyrics.
PERSONAL NOTES
- I love this hard rocking track although it does remind me a bit of Styx's
Renegade. I wish I could hear a proper studio version!
CHANCES:
Hangman......0% -- I see NO way this is played. I would bet Brian barely has recollection of it if I'm to be honest!
SUPPLEMENTAL:
The HeroWritten by: Brian May
Musicians:

Brian May - guitars, piano, synthesizer, vocals
John Deacon - bass guitar
Roger Taylor - drums, vocals
Howard Blake - orchestrations
- One of the most hard rocking tracks in the band's catalogue.
- Performed live with
Flash throughout 1982. The first few chords were played by Brian during QAL's opening segment before going into
Seven Seas Of RhyeQUOTES:
- "You always write me these songs which fucking kill my beautiful voice!” Freddie Mercury to Brian upon hearing this song
ALTERNATE RELEASED VERSIONS:
FILM - END CREDITS VERSION- NOT essential but interesting.
- The version that appears at the end of the film is a slightly different mix than the album version - it does feature a few more Freddie shouts!
OCTOBER 1980...REVISITED- ESSENTIAL LISTENING
- Appears on the 2011 Island Remastering bonus disc.
- A new mix of the song including a double tracked Freddie vocal which makes it even a MORE full and rocking track.
OFFICIALLY RELEASED LIVE VERSION
ON FIRE AT THE BOWL VERSIONPERSONAL NOTES:
- This one is tough on the vocal chords...I shredded my own a few times on this one. But you just want to sing!
CHANCES:
The Hero......50% -- Well it kind of depends. I think it's 50/50 they open the concert the same way and therefore there will be at least a snippet of it...perhaps more. I doubt they do the whole song but I wouldn't be surprised with a bit of it!
