It would be really fun to do an off the wall re-casting of Chicago too....think of katy Perry as Roxy and Kesha as...forget her name..the one played by Catherine Zeta Jones [that would be some off the wall casting]. How about Courtney Love as the cell block madame Adam could do the Billy part really well and....hmmm....suggestions for Roxy's poor cuckolded husband...he has an amazing song, Cellophane...how about Boy George lol...

I believe Fox News and Fox Entertainment are two separate companies, although both are still technically under Rupert Murdoch. The conservatism that is so rampant on Fox News doesn't seem to affect Fox Entertainment. Thank gawd. I don't know what the business arrangement is, but to me they're not so different. Very tabloid/edgy/outrageous/sensationalism/etc. |

NBC acquired the rights to "The Music Man". The order follows 2013's uber-successful “Sound of Music Live,” which scored 19 million viewers. NBC had previously ordered a live version of “Peter Pan,” which will air on Dec. 4. The 1957 “Music Man” production follows a con man who comes to a Midwestern town with a scam using a boy's marching band program, but things don't go according to his plan. The stage show won five Tony awards. NBC does not yet have an air date set for “The Music Man”." Adam as Harold Hill? Discuss.  OK...this is my kind of discussion lol so I will bite. I actually would rather not see Adam's first go at something like this not be either this or Peter Pan. Peter Pan would be too full of type casting pitfalls and I doubt Adam would want it...regardless of the poor timing or any other such thing. RE The Music man...Adam is really a little young for this character as usually played and while I think he could do a good job, it really is somewhat 'old' and a tired concept...the bad boy and good librarian .... There are so many newer shows with really interesting parts there is no need to go this far back into Musical theatre...I am surprised that they are so gang busters on old shows unless it is a simple money issue....the copyright fees on these shows is probably appreciably less than the newer [within the last 20 +/_ years]. Down the road, if the audience is there for these shows, and Adam hones his acting chops some, I would love to see him do Kiss of the Spiderman....but that calls for some pretty strong acting and I don't think Adam is there yet. Maybe it is that I have such a soft spot for Brent Carver, who won a Tony for that show...Another one of my favourite characters is Sweeney Todd but it is a little soon after the film I suspect, and again, Adam is a little young for that character yet. I would give my eye teeth to see him do that in another 10 years or so though. But the character that, IMHO, is crying out for him and made for this sort of format, is The Engineer in Miss Saigon. The music is fabulous and this character is right up Adam's alley...he could camp this up big time and have a blast...yet is not a gay character...but could be...whatever, the sexuality of the engineer is just not integral to his story at all.....even tho the character is a pimp, in the play. Can't you just see this.... eta...first vid quit before the car...best part :-) but don't know how to get rid of it...  That is so weird! I have been a massive Brent Carver fan since the early eighties and have seen him play everything from Hamlet to the MC in Cabaret (far better than Joel grey - sorry, but true.) Both Cabaret and Kiss of the Spiderwoman are by Ebb and Kander. Both musicals have roles that Brent absolutely made his own but Adam could do justice to both characters, imho.
Brent was brilliant, vulnerable and heart-breaking as Molina, and a very tough act to follow, but a full 20 years has past and KOTSW is ripe for re-interpretation. The character of Molina is apolitical and frivolous but in the end he comes through in a very important way - for love. It would be amazing to see Adam make his mark on those roles.
(FYI, two of my friends have Glambert-sized crushes on Brent and I tell them they have to listen to ALL of my Adam talk because they bent my ear for hours in the 80's and 90's.)
