Okay, can someone please explain to me the WHYs of this iHeart mini pre-concert thing? Who else does this? Is this a common/normal event before bands launch into a tour? Is it just QAL, or are there other artists on the bill? Why is it being "hosted" by Motley Crue star Nikki Sixx? If it's a one-hour thing exclusively for QAL fans, then why do they need a host? I mean, what's a host gonna do except stand up there and say, "Hi there, thanks for coming. Here's Queen and Adam Lambert!" I'm very confused about this whole event.  It is just QAL. 1 hour long. It is programming for classic rock stations so hosted by Motley Crue star Nikki Sixx who is a big Queen fan. They have a host because it is a web radio program. *** Other people have done concert previews like this in the iHR New York theater. www.setlist.fm/venue/iheart-radio-theater-new-york-ny-usa-43d72b5b.htmliHR just took over this theater in Burbank last September. This is the 4th Burbank event. The other three Burbank events were 3 album preview events -- Katy Perry, Coldplay and One Direction. ** iHeartRadio does concert previews to provide radio promotions (contests) for Clear Channel and iHRadio radio stations, and to provide web content to drive traffic to iHR and radio station websites. They are usually 10 songs -- not full concerts but a preview. |

Why? - PR for iHeart and Queen & Adam - iHeart is heavily involved in this tour. Who else? iHeart & Clear Channel launched this in Oct 2013 with Katy Perry's album preview party. On the iHR Concert preview -- one more thought inspired by graciejane's post. UMG is probably heavily involved with this. Queen signed a big worldwide contract with UMG December 2013.
Part of the motivation for this tour is that contract and the new Queen projects in the works. Queen will have a new album this year, the Freddie bio-pic and more projects are in the pipeline.
The Q&A part will be focused on Queen but since the MSG announcement, there has always been a bit of Adam promo in this tour.
Finally, it is 1 hour with probably 45 minutes of performance maybe less. Katy Perry did 5 songs. Neon Trees did 10 songs (NYC event).
ETA: Interview is confirmed.
