So let's recap the costumes: leather bad boy; purple couches and gold fringe goodness; white pants (nothing more required there)...: and leopard suit. So what happened to the red? Not that I'm complaining. Oh and waiting patiently for some of our incoherent atoppers who were there to check in. Once they regain the power of speech of course...! I have decided that the red refers to the lighting and lasers.

reasonable, practical - not in the equation I think it's a guy thing. Do you have to go with your husband? Surely he would hate you to miss out on something you want so much just because he doesn't want to do it himself...and there are always plenty of Atop friends to share the experience with.... Dear mehitabel not sure why your husband would refuse. You can go alone!

Do you think starting with "Now I'm Here" had any significance? I definitely think it had significance! Very fitting way to declare himself to start an epic show!

For the record I don't hold it against Adam.....or even bri or rog. I don't like everything any of them do....and this is just something I wasn't a fan of...I just had a sinking feeling...something I didn't want at a gig like this. I mean now now that it's happened, I'll be prepared and it won't bother me as much....I think. Aw, talon, thanks for your honest feelings. On the livestream I suddenly heard Lynneville or some others start laughing during the opening of WWRY. I didn't connect it until the pics. I can't imagine anything more RIDICULOUS than singing WWRY in a gold crown and leopard suit. The ending is over the top campy and imo a clear homage to not only Freddie but to Queen. It felt like he was saying Freddie lives on, in this music, and Queen will live on, and I'm a fucking fierce queen and i'm going to wear this crown and it matches my suit. But I understand if any fans don't like it. I didn't think his gold lame pajamas were the most flattering. It's the fabric that makes it seem not right for onstage. So nice to see Brian and Roger spruce up a bit! Sorry to quote myself, buy I do feel bad if Queen fans are upset. I really do feel it's an homage and a wink and recognition of Freddie's legacy and being alive in music, not saying Adam is the new anything. That's why he took it off after WATC. Performance over.

Quick notes from what I could catch a. Visually amazing! b. nice set list for the beginning, wish they had spread out the surprises a bit more...and without actually scoring I hunk Q3 will beat me by one because I thought they'd skip '39....unless Brian did part of last horizon in his solo c. Can't wait to see the show. It seems more old school performance in the grand Queen tradition. d. I'm going to do it. Weigh in on the crown. Now you know I'm not an OTT Queen fan and you know I appreciate Adam and enjoy his performance but I thought the crown was tasteless. All the other Schlick with the couch and the outrageous costumes was all good but the crown? That was Freddie's ending in 1986 and for someone who is it trying to replace Freddie, it's a move that is against what he's trying. And what's worse is that Adam had been slowly winning some over...I have a feeling this might lose him some ground with some of those who he had been winning....and that's a shame. You may dismiss the above rant as taking it too seriously or that I should just get over it and that's fine. We all have our opinions. It doesn't mean I'm not looking forward to the shows or I'm turning into a hater but I didn't likes it. And if it bothered me at al..someone so open and approving of everything QAL have done...maybe that says something. but enough negative. I'm glad the. Road enjoyed themselves,,.the set looks awesome and I can't wait to see it myself soon! Talon, I have absolutely loved and appreciated you on this board and am happy for you to say what you feel, so I don't see this as 'negative' at all. I intensely dislike discussions that are framed in oppositional terms, or from a 'versus' comparative position. I find those pointless and truly negative. Symbols are very powerful, as you rightly say. I am not a 'diehard' Queen fan, but I have loved them all my life. Even I understand the context for this one. I read the entire Q+AL thread a short time ago and there was nothing there that particularly surprised me. What I took away from it though was a sense that the love for Freddie can at times outweigh an appreciation of Queen as more than the sum of it parts. There is a 'lead and follow' dynamic between entertainers and their fans. Adam has 'slapped' fans at times basically asserting his right as the artist to create and deliver as he pleases. I cannot imagine for one moment that Brian would not have understood the symbolism of what he was doing. And there is no way he would not be aware of the criticism around the slow release of archive material, criticism of other collaborations prior to Adam etc. My gut tells me it was a entirely deliberate, aimed at multiple levels - for the unknowing, simply part of the over-the-top spectacle. For the initiated, he is claiming his right to Queen, to lead it way the surviving members who still want to perform see fit. I have no doubt that Brian and Roger deeply loved Freddie. What I see, which I think is part of the distress some fans feel, is that they are actually growing to love Adam. Freddie was a peer, Adam is like a son. No one who looks closely can misinterpret the dynamic that is happening in front our very eyes. I believe it was unexpected on everyone's part, but it is happening. And I absolutely understand your deep love for Freddie and how much you wish he was still here now and performing now.
