So Elvis was known as The King and there have been various other incarnations of musical and/or vocal royalty such as The Queen of Soul, The Godfather of Soul, The King of Pop, The Godfather of Grunge, etc.- all of which usually include some sort of reference to genre. As Adam's abilities defy genre I hereby officially nominate the honorific designation "The New King" as his nom de guerre. Anyone with me on this?

Let's just call it the #FLD and save everyone some characters to use for other things :-XThe "Freddie Legal Disclaimer". Love it! And, yes, every single review has a version of it. So be it. #FLD for the win.

Ultimate Concert Guide NY Daily News t.co/TU9mYFcCDol Queen and Adam Lambert (July 17, Madison Square Garden): It’s hard to imagine anybody with the lungs, and character, to take the mike of the late Freddie Mercury. Except for Adam Lambert. While Queen offered a dubious tour some years ago with the wonderful, but deeply inappropriate, singer Paul Rodgers in Freddie’s place, this event looks like it will make up for that entirely. Lambert was born for the part. Heh heh. Look at the company he's grouped with. I approve. [/b] [/font] - Katy Perry (July 9 at The Garden, July 11 and 12 at Newark’s Prudential Center, and July 24 and 25 at Barclays Center): Pop’s most colorful kewpie doll brings her bouncy new show to the city for five dates this month. Expect zany costumes and a set that looks like an explosion in a candy factory.

- Black Keys (Aug. 24 and 25, Barclays Center): The biggest-selling rock band of our guitarphobic times will use this show to support its brooding new No. 1 album, “Turn Blue.”
[/ul] The piece also talks about Jay-Z/Beyonce, Eminem, One Direction, Soundgarden and other massive names. The only named dropped act I'm not intimately familar with is Romeo Santos, and he a local NY-er with a huge Latin following.

[puts mod hat on for a moment]
Just a reminder to please put a copy of all reviews on the NEWS thread as well as the concert thread. Include the link so that folk can click and give the original site traffic credit.
Please also put recaps on both threads.
Thanks! -HSM

From Trompettefille t.co/698QuIusDD"I just got home from Chicago and I am still freakin out about the fact that I have seen Queen. Live... I never thought I’d get the chance to do this. And Adam lambert was amazing. He was great. He’s a great performer, he’s charismatic, he’s funny, he’s sexy, talented, and had fantastic outfits. His voice is so strong and though he is different from Freddie, he did very well with Queen as the main vocalist. I just don’t even know how else to convey my emotions over this concert. Thursday night was one of the best nights of my life." Yay for "DIFFERENT from Freddie" ... SO MUCH BETTER than "he's NO Freddie" .... from now on, I'm going to believe that's what the reviewers and commenters really mean.
