This part of the Stephen Graves / Classic Rock Magazine blog ... Lambert’s only performing the band’s hits, goes the complaint; he’s a karaoke act. And it’s true that AC/DC plunged straight into the studio with Brian Johnson – and came out with Back in Black, one of the greatest rock albums of all time. Queen’s more cautious approach is just as valid – but if they don’t get Lambert in the studio, they risk being seen as a tribute act to their own glory days.
... brings up a topic that has occurred to me now and then while this tour came together. Does the cautious approach taken by Brian and Roger - an approach intended to honor Freddie, their dear friend and bandmate, and also intended to honor the devotion of Queen fans (and those who are Freddie fans rather than more broadly Queen fans) - in reality hold them back, keep them chained to the past? Behind the scenes are they struggling to find a way to move forward creatively? How large is their need to break free? And doesn't being chained to the past mean that the frontmen who work with them - Paul Rodgers or Adam, for example - will always need to move on, turn their focus to their own work, even though there are fans who would like more concerts filled with Queen's songs and large video images of Freddie singing. It is a blast to work with Brian and Roger on the one hand, but no one wants to "risk being seen as a tribute act" to Queen's past. Can Brian and Roger balance occasionally doing a large Queen tour with being more creative in smaller projects. Is that satisfying enough? Does that allow enough creativity? Do the personal projects, since they allow for the creation of new music, have a greater pull on their talents. Will this actually turn out to be the last big Queen tour? (Even if it is the last big tour there would probably be some one offs here and there, special events...) Whatever the answers turn out to be, I am soooo grateful to be able to go to some upcoming QAL concerts. I am also excited about A3 coming out in the not-too-distant future and seeing Adam perform his new music in concert. Just some musings- peace&love I have had similar thoughts. Looking at this moment, with Brian and Roger and Adam and the audience having such a great time, it feels right for them to be touring. I am glad I have more concerts ahead because I am having a great time. What happens after this should be interesting. Will they release a live DVD of this concert tour -- bet on it. They can release it and brand it Q+AL. And it will sell. Will B, R & A record something new? If they do, and I hope they do, I also hope they do not brand it "Queen". *** IMO Brian and Roger are much bigger stars outside of North America. I think this tour will help fix that gap in our musical appreciation. I hope so. (Queen never got a Grammy!!) Certainly, no one can underestimate Brian after seeing this concert.

Hi guys, I have a favor to ask, and I hope someone can help me. Who knows where to find a good audio file of WWTLF that's been edited to remove any crowd noise - does one exist? Or can somebody recommend software I can use to edit sound files from a QAL performance (though I'm not very good at that sort of thing)? Last night my dear brother-in-law lost his ongoing battle with heart/lung disease. We would love to include Adam's version of WWTLF in Mac's memorial service, but would like to weed out background cheers, people talking, etc. Thanks! First, the software.... Adobe makes software that does this and you can use a free trial of it. www.adobe.com/products/audition.htmlThe other option is Sony Sound Forge. It has a trial version too. www.sonycreativesoftware.com/soundforgesoftwareIt is easy to use and do. *** On the version to use -- my suggestion is the iHR TV Broadcast version -- there are many HD rips of this online. Most of the loud crowd noise is in the "spaces" and the tone of it is more appropriate -- more voice, less guitar.

Just an idea here, but when Adam told Rolling Stone that he was thinking about working on some additional songs for A3, could that be new material with Brian and/or Roger? Brian and Roger already have an album of "new" material with Freddie for release this year, as well as the DVD/CD release of the Live at the Rainbow concerts, so that takes care of Queen-branded material for now. If they wanted to work with Adam, why not collaborate on a few songs on his new album? Does that make sense (or am I just engaging in wishful thinking?) And yes, please, for a DVD/CD for the QAL tour. The fan videos are great, but there is nothing better than a professionally recorded version. **Fingers crossed**

So happy for you, I'm going to be in Houston and I'm driving to Dallas that same night for the Dallas show the next night, I can't wait!!! Me neither! I've also been a very good girl and have not watched the videos. I want to see it all for the very first time in Houston. I have seen some pictures but I'm basically unspoiled, so far. You have way more will power than I do. I have watched the stream and the videos to ALL of the concerts so far LOL!! It always seems like the concerts go by in such a flash so this way I'm a little more prepared!

'rufusttaylor před 5 hod. Another runner, next stop Vancouver. Killed it in Calgary tonight. Back to our plane with our real Picasso on board!!! Flights too short though.....major first world problem!' Well, there you go! Another question answered. Looks like Rufus, Spike, and Neil also fly. Makes sense! I have a question for anyone with knowledge about private planes. Do they have showers on board? We know the band gets whisked away right after the show to the next city (very smart, IMO!) but where when do they shower? This type of private jet probably does not have a shower on it. But as the details of this tour are coming out, I think that they are all being treated like Queens. They are traveling with furniture and rugs and lighting for the dressing rooms, they have staff support flying with them, seems like it must be 20+ people flying. This is truly at the top level of touring. ** I have flown in corporate jets, but not this level. That is one beautiful jet!!
