midwifespal, short and sweet is gorgeous, dazed and unable to utter anything but a few incoherent sentences is understandable in the circumstances, but long and eloquent is fantabulosis - is that a word? Oh, and did I say long is fantastic too. Keep adding more . I loved every word. Your hubby is well, HIGH FIVE. And LindaG, how sweet and beautiful. I have reached the stage where I'm starting to feel like a four year old about to stamp her feet because I can't wait anymore for my turn. And video celibacy is starting to get to me, so I live for these recaps even more. I only watch 3 songs, so I guess it's just really restraint and I should stop kidding myself. And the weird review above. This guy might benefit from a bit of sixties hippie, "Be here now, man", or a bit of Buddhist wisdom, "What we see in others we say of ourselves". Reason has it's time and place and might just find it has reason to be happy if it simply let go enough to feel and enjoy the awesome of being in the company of Brian May and hearing the Red Special wail with a unique artistry, hear some of the greatest songs ever written and performed by the people involved in their creation and sung in a way very few could accomplish or even dare to try. This guy has a double dose of 'reasonitis' - caught in the past and the future at the same time. He is what he was critisizing - someone trying too hard.

midwifespal... So soooooooo good to see you pop in to post neat stuff, and so fun to read your recap... loved your descriptions of your hubby! If you didn't write a long, eloquent, thoughtful treatise, I'd be saying, " Who are you, and what have you done with midwifespal??" I've often wondered about this bit you mentioned: "It felt like the arena would never fill up, but then the vast, bowl-like space went suddenly black and the first flash from the rigging lit up an uninterrupted sweep of thousands and thousands of faces, all turned towards stage. It must have looked fucking incredible to Adam when the curtain flew away from in front of him and revealed that curving sea of humanity, focused on a single point: him. I wonder if it ever feels normal. "How I would LOVE to ask him that very question!!

Wildarose had this to say in the Daily News Thread 7-11-14:I am a new member and am having trouble posting. But here goes. My recap of the Houston concert. Love all of yours, so just had to share mine. I attended the Houston concert, flying alone from Tampa the day of. This was going to be a bucket list item for me. It started out with a custom made QAL t-shirt which I modified from one I made after Adam’s run on Am Idol. I wore it from the moment I left the house and it was quite a conversation piece everywhere I went. I got a hotel within a block of the Toyota Center. Saw the “truck n roll” trucks on a vacant lot across the street. My time was coming! Yes, I had VIP seats down front, to the right of the thrust. And to my delight, I was in the crazy section, so I felt right at home, Adam and standing only territory! The concert was overwhelming in some ways. I had watched many online videos, photos, tweets, conversations on Adamtopia, reviews, etc. But being only a few feet from the action gives you an otherworldly feel. Is this for real? My feeling halfway in about Adam was, I am so close, but yet so far. He now resides in the stratosphere. In a way, that gave me mixed emotions. I had seen him twice before, during the GNT and at Universal Orlando last summer. It seemed to me those intimate shows are now gone forever. I had wanted this so much for Adam, worldwide acclaim on a worldwide stage, but realized I would probably never be able to wait outside his bus in the dark with a few others and get his autograph again. Adam was so on point and so happy! But then so was the rest of the band. Adam’s improvisatorial singing when Brian’s guitar malfunctioned was a real treat. And a new song rose to the top of my favorites, Tie Your Mother Down. I had not focused on Brian and the rest of the band during pre-concert video footage, so I was determined to pay close attention when they were spotlighted. OMG, they are all such treasures. I was especially impressed with Brian. He was feeling the love and it showed. The audience roared their approval when he and the band put on the NASA hats. Having lived briefly in Houston 30 yrs ago, I knew what that meant to Houston fans. Plus he dedicated a song to the NASA team and astronauts. Then later he came out with an Astros jersey on and the fans went wild again. My seat to the right of the thrust had some good points and not so good points. Everything that happened on that second stage, was behind us to the left, so we saw their backs. But the pluses were, we got great close up views of anything that took place on the catwalk and there were some sexy moments there, ie, when Adam gets on his bike and rides and later, gimme all your love. Plus we were close to the right side golden stairs and were big into the sing and response that Adam does. Our side was louder! During the concert, at least two of the glamberts near me cried, and I mean CRIED, had to sit down and lower their heads. Very touching. I am not a crier, I am a screamer. I bought special ear plugs, but forgot them in the hotel room. I did not need them. Could have used them maybe when we were all screaming at the top of our lungs for the encore. I could not hear myself scream, wonder if that did some damage? Ha, ha. If not my ears, how about my vocal chords? I am hoarse today. Security around the thrust were stopping people from video taping, the disadvantage of being close. I did get a few in and about 50 photos. But mostly enjoyed the concert, trying not to look at that huge screen in front of us, wanted to see the guys without relying on it. I like Adam’s shoes/boots and swore I was going to take a close up of them. I forgot about this until the encore, and I did get…“these shoes are made for walking.” I will post a short video of that later. When it was over, I didn’t want to leave the arena. It was fun talking to the people, but security said we had to go. I was not ready to end this once in a life time experience. Didn’t get to talk to any Queen fans until the walk back to the hotel. A man and his son were walking behind me and they started the conversation. Asked if I liked the concert, I said yes, did they? They thought it was great. They had flown in from Colorado for it. The man said, “You know, I did not know anything about this Adam Lambert before I came. I never watched Am Idol.” What did you think I asked? He said “He was great, such a diva, just like Freddie, I loved it!” His son added, “I liked when they showed Freddie too.” Me: “How old are you? He: “12.” Me: “Are you a rock n roller too?” He: “Yes.” Me: “Your Dad is raising you right.” He had a new Queen t-shirt in hand, which I saw him wearing the next day. The torch had been passed. Wonderful ending to a spectacular night. Read more: www.adamtopia.com/thread/2446/11-14-adam-news-info?page=2#ixzz37AowtHHR

I am okay with that review. He gives props to Adam. Recognizes his amazing voice and his charisma. He gives props to Brian's guitar work and Roger's singing. He just doesn't like the concept of the show. If I am reading between the lines correctly, the reviewer is in the "it ain't Queen without Freddie" camp. He actually wants them to perform live with no frontman, and just use Freddie's vocals. Huh? Did I get that right? Or not perform at all. He wants Adam to find the right songs to be a hit at whatever type of performer he is gonna be. (Another person who cannot figure out what box to put Adam in, and is frustrated by his diversity of material.) The frustrating part is how he characterizes the audience response. From the videos I have seen, the audience was raucous and enthusiastic. It demonstrates how one's expectations and preferences can influence one's observations and interpretations. He didn't like the show, so he found examples of others who didn't. I think. He also missed the fact that NOBODY left until after the lights went up after the encore; and even then, they were slow to exit. He does mention everyone's good points, but fails to take in how much better they are together, I think. You're right, he just wants them to use Freddie's previously recorded vocals if they tour, which would be a living music video instead of an exciting live show. And I get it; I thought no one could replace Freddie. I was highly doubtful of Adam UNTIL I saw last year's iHeart Radio festival gig. I stayed up until 2 a.m. to see it live, and through some tinny computer speakers and a small square on my computer screen I felt the charisma, skill and passion Adam brought to the Queen catalog. I was sold on him in those first moments.

wildarose - to delete your post above, click on the little down arrow beside the cog in the upper right of your post. In the drop down, there will be a Delete Post option, click on it and a pop-up will ask you if you are sure. Just say yes. You or an admin can delete a post but not me. Give it a try. Thanks so much Linda. It worked this time. How do I create a new post? Just click reply?
