"My only complaint besides the whole thing being too loud is that Adam's voice sounded almost tinny or shrillish. Hard to explain, but he sometimes sounded like a teenager's voice--not full yet. I like how he sounds even on many of the amateur YTs. I don't know why this struck me. I still enjoyed it." - Holst Yes, I've been wondering if excitement and or adrenaline pushes Adam's voice into that more shrill/squeaky place or it is the speaker system. He does sound like a child. It definitely jolts one out of the "rock and roll" experience. Not enjoyable for my ears. I don't think he is aware of his squeaky place. Then add the decibel level and ... That is truly for me the ONLY negative with Adam's singing. That shrill place. So agree about the panning. Looove that the Queen fan said it was his best concert ever! Wow. I think it's the sound system/adjustments. I haven't heard that tone quality ever before. The YouTubes don't sound like what I heard, nor do any other recordings. Not having heard what you are talking about I shouldn't really comment about it. Yeah, right. Never stopped the critics, did it? I don't know about this specific case, but I do know that Adam's voice has gotten richer and fuller in the past five years I have been listening. He has refined his control and his technique. It would be very unusual for someone with that tone and that technique to lose that richness and become shrill. It just wouldn't FEEL right in his body. It wouldn't sit right. A singer might CHOOSE to dampen the lower harmonics that give richness and fullness to the tone while emphasizing the shriller high harmonics, in order to get a more metallic, less cultured sound. I don't think Adam would make that choice with Queen. I tend to believe we are hearing failures in the sound system where certain frequencies are over amplified and certain frequencies under-represented. Just talking in theory here.

I will say that my first surprise during the Philly show was how low and rich his voice sounds at the start of "Now I'm Here" which is also why it's so impressive when it soars up for the "around" phrase. Maybe it's a trick of one's ear?

Yes, I think it is the sound system now, after hearing what you all are saying. I hope they realize and fix it.

Had it tested not too long ago and was declared great for my age.

I thought this was the definition of the chipmunk sounds? Only so much the ear can take perhaps?
