IMO, the reviews and articles about this concert tour have been astonishingly positive. Queen + Adam Lambert is a "set-up" for negative reviews. Freddie is an icon who no one would dare criticize or dislike since his tragic death elevated him to sainthood. (I don't think he ever got such total adoration while alive.) It will take at least a couple more generations before memories and images have faded enough for someone else to be considered "as good as" or, dare it be said, "better than." The sentence "Lambert is no Freddy" is the default phrase for starting any review. That an overwhelming percent of writers go on to say very positive things about Adam and the show is remarkable.
Praising public figures, celebrities and shows is not considered as "newsworthy" as slinging snark and dirt and criticism. Even relatively innocuous news stories get salacious headlines in order to earn hits on the internet. Glowingly positive headlines are exceedingly rare today, and Queenbert is garnering one after another after another, across the continent. I could not be more pleased.
As to the meme regarding Adam not being Freddie, my immediate response is "well, duh!" Different looks, different voice, different movements, different energy, different crowd interaction, different techniques, different clothing style, different approach to songs. It is not a BAD thing that Adam is not Freddie. I think it is GOOD. Freddie is not Adam, either. The facts are: Freddie is gone, Adam is here, the show is fantastic, hundreds of thousands get to see it live and, hopefully, at the end of the tour, hundreds of thousands more will see it on professional video.
There is nothing to stress about (well, except I still don't know how that boy can sing at that level of intensity, for that long each performance, for that many performances in close proximity without straining his instrument. But I am doing my best to trust in Adam and leave my "worried mom" behind). It's all good.

There is an unwritten law (that I have broken at times myself) - NEVER READ THE COMMENTS! It rarely turns out well lol. And I'm asking again - where are the concert reviews here? They are posted in the relevant concert threads and generally, a post is put in the daily thread, the day posted, to let peeps know that is where they are. For example, I just posted my recap a few hours ago and I posted a comment here to let interested people know it is there. So....for mine, go to the Vancouver concert thread....there are several recaps in the latter few pages....cheers oops...just realized you wanted reviews...not recaps...but again, if it is only the positive reviews you want to see, maybe our recaps would be the thing.... Thanks! I'll check it out tomorrow incl yours. No LOL not just positive ones. I like to see all opinions.

But I am doing my best to trust in Adam and leave my "worried mom" behind). It's all good. Maybe just me but considering a lot of the reviews are prefaced, or started as a default "He's no Freddie". Was people under the impression or pretense, that he was like Freddie? Do people associate singers who front bands who were relevant in the 70's particularly with classic rock bands as tribute bands? Like you could say Marc Martell with the Tribute Band, or a ton of singers who have fronted legendary bands. Maybe reviewers associate any singer fronting Queen as having to bring some form of Freddie sensibility, so although Adam has a vocal range just like Freddie's (I believe Adam's low-high range is superior to Freddie, well to most singers really), were they expecting Adam to imitate Freddie? Clearly I know the answer is, it is not PC to say oh this singer is better then an icon, people these days in society, are just used to saying oh music sucks these days, tv sucks these days e.t.c. And like you said him dieing tragically in 1991 was it really adds to his legacy, so it's absurd even on the surface to even take on his legend. But that's what makes Adam Lambert once in a generation, maybe century, when you say no one on this planet could take on Freddie and not try to emulate Freddie, but borrowing sensibilities,, and bringing his own unique interpretation to the songs, and bring an originality to them. But he has been doing this since Idol, Adam is internationally known for making classic or current songs all his own, so I am not sure why people were that surprised he has reinvented Queen. It doesen''t just take a big voice to do Freddie's song''s he wrote justice, it takes charisma, stage presence, a glam-rock sensisiblity (one thing the other ten lead singers just don't have, that and a sense of theatricality). But most of all it takes balls lol, you know what I mean the dude is brave I mean who takes on Freddie's legacy and actually shows the consistency and power to silent the namesayers, really brave. It is a combinatio of things that make's Adam Lambert the only sutiable vocalist alive today to pull it off, Brian and Roger don't feel like his back up band like they have felt like with countless other lead singers, they feel like Queen. Of course their are always going to be "purists" or namesayers who well never warm to it, unnforutantely not everyone is open minded, social media is full of cynical, negative people, but that's the minority I guess the majority have realized how this enhances the legacy of Queen not diminshes it.
