He doesn't want a nostalgic concert but this concert is designed, intentionally, for nostalgia. So... And he is firmly in the no Queen without Freddie camp. He at least gave Adam props for way more than an AI contestant. And I do have to say (forgive me) that it feels really awfully lazy for them to continue to do Bo Rap that way, as letting Adam try to rearrange it with the band would have been cool. Nice of him to mention Adam's pov as an artist and liking the couch. I really like Roger singing These Are The Days of Our Lives. For the record - it may seem lazy but it is definitely Brian's considered choice. Bohemian Rhapsody is always singularly pointed as Freddie's song. It was "Freddie's baby" as Brian is always wont to say, so Brian can't see *NOT* having Freddie on it. I doubt it will ever change. I love it myself still to be honest, although as cheesy as it might be I wish Adam would go back to "introducing" Freddie as he comes in. It may be stupid but for just :30 it makes it seem like Freddie has come back....but I wax nostalgic  |

WAL, bb!!! Nice to see you, darlin'!  To keep my bliss, I take these reviewers with a shrug and a 'you lost out on an experience' attitude. Not telling anyone else how to interpret them. For me, feeling the joy on stage and in the audience as all unite into a true bonding and love sharing is all I need. This tour is all about joy and don't we know it. Lucky us!

My biggest problem with that moronic review is that Brian and Roger will read it, being it's LA TImes... I know they are used to crap in the US media, but not this time around.... I could understand substantiated pointed criticism...instead he didn't like the fact that Freddie was featured and remembered? REALLY???? and THAT fact he uses as some convoluted proof of his "opinion"?
WOW, what a sad case of a "music critic"....

I see what you're saying Talon. But for me watching video onscreen for that long like that feels weird. At least it's bookended by live performance.
Mr Wood is truly discounting anything Brian and Roger added to the band. I find Brian's Red Special just as big a part of the Queen sound. For him to dismiss them is not understanding the level of musicianship in their late 60s. I think it made the reviewer uncomfortable to be at the concert, when he didn't buy into it. Reminds me of the harshness of some of the UK QAL reviews.

To me, he and Adam are apples and oranges, so I can separate the two as unique performers. I guess that is why it's easier for me to remain more neutral to the constant comparisons. I'm proud of the true respect Adam holds for Freddie. I think it shows...  |
