The LATimes review is the first review to acknowledge, IMO, that Adam is a worthy frontman in his own right and that he could easily put Queen into new territory.

Comment under the LA Times "review"..
rraustin Well that review was a bit of a downer - lol. Seems like the reviewer prefers his music left in the "golden oldies" museum to be pulled out occasionally for his enjoyment. Think Queen has a different approach though - music's dead unless it's reinterpreted again and again for a new generation. The guys have said Freddie would approve of that - and guess they'd be our go-to peeps on that. But this reviewer is just another voice in today's clamor for attention - and can be disregarded as, fortunately, with today's technology, we can just go to the vids and check out the fab performances along with the wow responses from the audiences. That's all you need - plus a sold-out Forum. Great stuff - don't miss it.

Interesting that Mikael Wood complains about Adam and Queen not breaking any new ground, when (for me at least) one of the highlights of the show is Adam's performance of Brian's BRAND NEW arrangement of Love Kills! And Wood was not impressed or moved by Brian's fiery, otherworldly axemanship? This does not compute!
At least he gave Adam some props, but I'm furious about his indifference to Brian and Roger's musicianship. They deserve so much praise and respect.

This guy posted a bunch of photos from LA concert on his twitter and also wrote the review on his FB.. twitter.com/MatteoBitettiMatteo BitettiConcert Review I saw Queen + Adam Lambert last night at the fabulous Forum. Having experienced several of Queen's revivals, but never Adam Lambert, I had reservations. Needless to say, I was quite surprised to have enjoyed myself much more than I expected to. The music sailed with a freshness and vitality seldom heard in catalogue concerts. Adam Lambert has a facility of voice that more than stands up to the memory of Freddie Mercury. If you get a chance, go see the concert. It will be touring the country for the next few months (including Vegas), then it takes off to the continent. Rating 5 stars!

Ironically although he complains about Queen living in the past, he keeps comparing the current show with Queen's past performances with Freddie and minimizing Adam's stellar vocals by saying that Freddie was able to do the same, so no big deal.. of course, he listened to Freddie's version of a song on his way home to compare.. He does the very same thing he attacks in his review.

The LATimes review is the first review to acknowledge, IMO, that Adam is a worthy frontman in his own right and that he could easily put Queen into new territory. I'm going to agree with you. It seems that he was expecting and Adam Lambert & Queen concert instead of the other way around and actually seems to be quite a Glambert so it just swings the other way from other reviews. Some think that the article said Brian and Roger were doing it for the money, but what I read in the article was that they must be getting plenty of money from the WWRY tour and that meant they must be doing the QAL tour for the fun of it. I think he's got that part right. I do disagree on his dislike of the staging. I have no idea what current pop stars do but I hope Adam can lease that rig because it is just so cool. For those of who like the voice, and the hottie who hosts it, well as Roger says we don't need hordes of dancers and gilded hatching eggs. So I count it in the plus column. Adam is great, Queen sounds just the same as they used to. Next.
