It's the whole damned if he does damned if he doesn't thing. Sing too much like Freddie and he's being a copycat = bad. Add a few runs here and there on songs and he's not respecting the legacy = bad.
It's called interpretation. And ok, fair copy if some might not care for the choices made, but there have been very few things ever that the statement "because it has always been done that way" is a valid reason to continue doing so.
Ok just as well I'm not online much today. #grumpy #itsthevoiceaufault

Throwing in my two cents worth....i think if most of us really liked...or preferred...that gritty voice, we would not be fans of Adam Lambert....that is not what he does best, pure and simple. Freddie wasn't that gritty as a general rule either was he? That is not how I heard him.... That said, I don't get the appeal of Stone Cold Crazy, tbh. In fact, the whole opening sequence is not my favourite, but that is me. I hardly really hear Adam in SCC...it is mostly cacophony with a compelling base sound periodically....hiding behind that blue couch now. I feel like he almost has to 'yell' to be heard over the instruments and I personally don't care for that....guess that is the downside to having all those amazing instrumentalists and to the rock genre as a whole....everyone wants their piece of the audience's ears... IMHO

It has been so hard to keep up with everything here over the last couple of weeks! Now that I'm on holiday, I'll be able to go back and read it all and catch up! I thought I'd share with you one of the adventures a couple of my kiwi friends are having.... They travelled to the US for 6 QAL shows starting in LA and both Vegas shows. They have so far met and spoken to Eber, Sutan and Sauli! And last night they met Adam's driver and had a chat. Nothing here is new to us, but I love hearing people talk about Adam like this and it is good to know he's still the same humble guy even with all this amazing success! Here is what my friend Trish wrote: "We chatted to Adams car driver last night he said that Adam was the most down to earth awesome person he has met. He has driven Rolling Stones, Madonna, Pink, Nini Inch Nails. He said Adam & Pink have been his favourites & Madonna was awful. He got to see the show last night and ranked it up with the birth of his son as an experience. He was a really sweet guy. He said he would mention to Adam that there were people from NZ there to see him you never know. ps just remembered something else. The question was asked "Is Adam on time" he just laughed. I said "Is Adam time challenged?" He said yes. Last night he was waiting for the call to take him to the concert. 7 o,clock (designated time) came & went, 7:10, 7:20, 7:30 he was just going to ring Adam when he got the call. This will not be news to Glamberts. "

On a fun note: how long do you think it'll take Bri to take over the couch completely? LV2 had Adam almost in the corner already with Bri leaning into him but time! Sooooo, what's next?

Now there's an idea:))) Rufus favorited this tweet:))) Jan @janislandgirl @adamlambert can @ruttaylor1 please be your drummer for era 3. He is an amazing drummer & great chemistry! Love to C you two tour together Rufus is really talented - and cute. My question would be if he has done a lot of work in genres other than rock. I really don't know. I am very curious, too, as to what direction Adam will be taking with A3. Would Rufus fit with what Adam has in mind? I just ran across a little article today about Longineu Parsons. He has decided to leave YellowCard to "pursue other musical interests." (For newer fans, he was the first drummer in Adam's backing band.) He is very talented, too, and has some excellent experience, if I recall, in blues and funk (family band). Another thing I wonder about is how Adam will find a lead guitar player to satisfy him after Brian. "How you gonna keep em down on the farm after they've seen Paree?" But in the meantime, we can all enjoy what's going on now, and my one and only show is in less than two weeks....

I see...can;t argue with the "angry voice" idea.... still "lost" bears a different meaning to me... anyhooo... I am going to pick on all of you, folks, who keep talking about WATC riffs. Soooo, explain to me please how would YOU like to finish the concert? No culmination? No climax? No glory ending? No FIREWORKS? How can you take the song out of the concert context and talk about it as if it is a stand alone song? : To me the whole build up with the "we are the champions off" repeated several times with increasing degree of embellishment and volume IS THE WORTHY END TO THE SPECTACULAR SHOW! I can't even imagine any better way. If the way for Adam to get the "gritty" "rock and roll" voice needed so people will give legitimacy to his performances of things like SCC is vocal damage (which is pretty much how it works - if Freddie hadn't died guessing he would probably have totally blown his voice out like Robert Plant etc have also done because they didn't sing with proper technique hence vocal damage hence gritty husky sound) - then I will take his slightly less pure versions because the flip side is I get WWTLF and Love Kills and a Wildest Moments etc etc etc. I just finished a bio about Freddie and he had numerous problems with his voice. So I agree with you, Adam's a smart guy and he knows how to take care of his voice. He doesn't need to prove he has a rock voice. He is doing it his way, and he's doing it perfectly.

IMHO yaa....that's me....I perceive the whole opening section as lot's of noise, rhythmic loud frantic noise... no singing involved... BUT the great thing is that it gives me time to get the stream going without freaking out that i am "missing" something....
