Many of us expressed (or possibly kept it to ourselves) concern about Adam singing 23 times in 37 days. Especially after seeing the set list and the first couple of shows. By my rough calculations, Adam is onstage performing and singing for over an hour and a half each show. This is not like the musicals he did. Even when he had a featured role, he had two or three solos per performance. He sang with the chorus on a handful more. Total amount of actual singing time was probably less than 30 minutes a night. The singing that he did do was not nearly as intense as much of the Queen catalog. I am also thrilled to hear stellar performance after stellar performance. Each night there are slight variations and individual characteristics, but taken in the aggregate, Adam's performances and interpretations show impressive consistency. It looks and sounds new and fresh each time, but it is all carefully laid out in his mind. His "abandon" is crafted, choreographed, and vocally planned for optimum effect, while considering how to best use but not abuse that amazing instrument of his. Are you familiar with the phrase "How ya gonna keep 'em down on the farm after they've seen Paree (Paris)?" I wonder how Adam will be content to do solo shows with his music after this tour? After singing some of the finest music in rock and pop in the past 50 years? After performing with some of the best musicians in the business? After doing a series of shows that are extremely challenging vocally, emotionally, dramatically and physically? And not just executing them adequately, but smashing the hell outa them. Where does he go from here? I was surprised to hear his voice crack last night during the call and response.. He seemed surprised too. Is that a sign of strain on his voice or is it no big deal? I also wonder how he'll feel about his solo career after all this..

Just curious, since I know nothing about these fan polls, but how does that Skillet guy know that those ten votes are being counted? I just used his system, but kept going past 10, stopping at 16 out of boredom. Never got any message that they were counted...or not. I see we are slipping a bit but is it because this 10x is really working or is it because more Panheads are jumping online to vote for the first time? Someone else said last night that you could do 30 then rest for 5 minutes, refresh, and start again without being put in jail. They're ahead probably because there are more people voting and doing it consistently. They've got their international fans voting too. Although I see on their twitter talk about someone cheating.. don't know what that's about or if true. twitter.com/panheadsonline

The TALC videos from last night are super! I am so grateful to those folks for their tireless documentation of Adam's performances. I know that at every concert, attendees say "this was the best night of the tour." But, is it my imagination that AC topped all the other incredible performances? Such high energy. Such joyous abandon. Such powerful, rich, masterful vocals. Many of us expressed (or possibly kept it to ourselves) concern about Adam singing 23 times in 37 days. Especially after seeing the set list and the first couple of shows. By my rough calculations, Adam is onstage performing and singing for over an hour and a half each show. Total amount of actual singing time was probably less than 30 minutes a night. The singing that he did do was not nearly as intense as much of the Queen catalog. Adam was also not onstage in the spotlight for almost all of the musical theater shows. He had significant "down time" between his featured scenes. With QAL he is not "at rest" on stage ever. He is always "ON!" The mental and physical energy required to project that kind of stage presence and to capture and hold the audience in rapt attention as he does is substantial and draining. Yet, here we are at the end of the US tour, and Adam is looking and sounding stronger than ever. How is that humanly possible? I am a trained singer, know lots of trained singers, and know lots of voice preserving techniques, and I still am incredulous that his voice sounded as it did for last night's concert. I honestly don't know how he is doing that. I am beyond impressed. I am also thrilled to hear stellar performance after stellar performance. Each night there are slight variations and individual characteristics, but taken in the aggregate, Adam's performances and interpretations show impressive consistency. Where does he go from here? I am surprised to find myself typing this, but I would be more than happy if he continued to collaborate with Roger and Brian and Queen. Not only have they jelled during this tour, not only do they have a palpable affection and respect for one another, but they have raised each other up to new heights of creativity and musicality. Adam no longer looks or feels like a guest with the group. An album of new music would be amazing. Further touring would be wonderful. Adam has many, many years left to pursue a solo career and an opportunity like this may never come about again. Ride the wave! I was surprised to hear his voice crack last night during the call and response.. He seemed surprised too. Is that a sign of strain on his voice or is it no big deal? A friend is going to burn me a CD of a show. For overall sound, would the TALC videos from East Rutherford or Atlantic City be better? (she will have to add Love Kills and TSMGO to get all songs performed so far.) Thanks!
Since I was only on p. 4 when I wrote this...just came to Cassie's post about the videos from AC. Guess that answers my question!! Thanks, Cassie!

It was at 11:12 in this video.. maybe "crack" is not the right term, but his voice sounded strained or it came out not as he intended judging by his reaction. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xo0Q8FG4sbo#t=675

I was surprised to hear his voice crack last night during the call and response.. He seemed surprised too. Is that a sign of strain on his voice or is it no big deal? I also wonder how he'll feel about his solo career after all this.. With how good he sounded for the rest of the concert, I think it was just a mistake. Pushing the voice a little too hard. He is a high tenor, but he is not an alto or a soprano. He consistently sings at the very top of his chest range, and then a little more. The natural break in his voice is around a G4/G#4. The A4 is pushing it. What does that mean? Notes about the G#4 or A4 are difficult to produce with the chest voice. In order to go higher, one will normally switch to a head voice, and when Adam is singing lightly, he does. Think of the sustained high note in Soaked live. Or the crazy long note in CTMBTM. Or the high note in STL when he sings "toooooooooooooooooooooo love". Those are all sung in a beautiful, ringing head voice. When he wants real power and oomph for a more rock sound, he sings in full voice, blending chest voice with some of the ringing resonance of head voice. above the natural break point in his range. He sings powerful A4s, B4s, all the way up to E5s in the concert. If he uses too much breath to power out those notes or if he adds too much chest, his voice can easily crack. It is a delicate balancing act. Maybe it is like diamond cutting. You have to hit the rough stone at precisely the right angle with precisely the right force to expose the crystal. The slightest miscalculation and you crack the crystal and ruin the stone. If his voice is tired or has been strained from overuse, the cords will not vibrate as usual, their tension will collapse and the voice will break. If the body is tired, the singer may not be able to accurately apply the right amount of air thru the cords and the voice breaks. I don't think either was the case with last night's performance, or he would have backed off a lot of notes, or had a lot more bum sounding ones. I think he was just caught in the moment of trying to encourage the crowd to sing lustily and gave that high note too much push/air.

I frequent the Hard Rock Casino a little too often and they play "What do You Want From Me" on occasion, and some Queen music (usually "Fat Bottomed Girls").....but lately I've been hearing a lot more Queen than usual and I just heard.....wait for it....haha.... "Never Close Our Eyes" TWICE in the past week! Yeah! Hard Rock! BTW That's Hard Rock Casino in South Florida...not Vegas I've been a lurker for a long time but following these concerts inspired me to post again. Going through these videos - just so overwhelming it is hard to find the words. Thanks so much to everyone for all the videos, streams, reviews - you guys are amazing! If only there had been shows in Southeast U.S - I could have maybe gone - hopefully someday another U.S. tour. I've only seen Adam once (GNT in Atlanta) and that caused turmoil with family (husband went with me and did not like it)and most of my friends just don't get it and I was even almost kicked out of the PTA! I will find some cooler friends to hang with in time for A3 though... Time for some retail therapy - I'll post again later. WELCOME LINDABOYAND STORMCHASER !!!!!!
