That AC review on page 5 (link above) really captures so much about how I feel about this Queen + Adam Lambert collaboration. It is wonderful. And my only complaint remains the weird duet on BoRhap. The AC review quoted above is from a Queen, not Adam fan, who shares the sentiment I heard over and over during the tour. Before each concert started, I met Queen fans who were not sure who was singing for Queen and that Adam was the opening act, or who knew Adam was singing lead vocals but were skeptical. After the first few songs they were convinced that Adam could sing, by the end of the concert they were hoping for a new album with Adam. It was fun to watch the transformation. One Queen fan (40ish male) asked me if they were using Freddie video for BoRhap -- and I explained the duet and he moaned that he which they would just use Freddie video for the whole thing. He was generally skeptical of this "Adam Lambert guy". After the concert I asked him what he thought. He was impressed with Adam, wanted a new Queen album with Adam, and loved everything except that they didn't just have Adam sing all of BoRhap. I this this collaboration might last a while and I still am hopeful that maybe they will let Adam sing all of BoRhap at some point. Some Queen/Freddie fans might be upset but I most would appreciate hearing more of the song performed live -- live is better than recorded when you have a great vocalist singing lead. **** In a weird coincidence, KISS just played Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall and got not so great reviews -- even from fans. KISS is actually 2 of the original 4 members plus 2 new guys -- Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley are still touring. Their set is the same as last tour, their setlist is the almost the same as last tour and the performances were meh. The criticism is that there is nothing new about KISS. Here is a review written by a fan.... So the two artists that performed with Adam on Idol -- Queen and KISS -- both playing the same venues. The ones that appreciated Adam had the wisdom to collaborate with him and are getting rave reviews. The other, led by Gene Simmons who did not get Adam, reminded me of this article from Entertainment Weekly.... I think that Adam has proven that yes, he can sing a rock song or two or twenty.

Show biz questions: How does one artist get seats and backstage passes for another artists show? Agent to agent? Manager to manager? Direct call? Just curious (and happy) to imagine the contact being made and Beyonce or her people knowing who Adam is and granting him that kind of star recognition. Plus extending it to his friends. Or maybe it was the hair stylist who is in the pictures who gave Adam the seats/passes? *always curious about the process* Also wondering at what financial point it becomes viable to have a private plane for a tour. Can a tour make enough money after dividing the profits, paying expenses, etc. to pay for a private plane? Or is that a privilege reserved for those with the means to pay for it out of their own pocket? Or perhaps some artists own their own plane? *endlessly curious* I think there are a lot of different ways this can happen. Generally, in my experience, if you know someone who works backstage it's easy to get a pass. Also many times your management can call the tours management and make the request. I think Adam's star has risen considerably, especially after performing with Queen, so him getting passes backstage is probably pretty easy. A lot of respect for him out there now. But just because he has a backstage pass doesn't necessarily mean he will meet Bey &/or Jayz. That I think would have to be arranged. Don't know about the plane questions but I always assumed that the celebrities who have private jets own them. Perhaps Q3 would know. Celebrities attending concerts as VIPs is done three ways that I know of.... 1. The Celebrities manager contacts the manager for the performer and makes a request. The requesting celebrity may know or not know the performer. 2. The performer or the performer's manager contacts a celebrity and invites them to a show. This happens when the two artists know each other or if the performer wants to connect with someone and explore future collaboration. 3. The performer and VIP attendee know each other -- and the performer invites the VIP/friend/collaborator to the concert personally. For example, Adam invited Nile Rodgers to Queen + Adam Lambert then the arrangements were made by their managers. Adam invited a lot of his friends and family to the preview and tour concerts. *** The planes used by touring artists are almost always leased and paid for by the tour/promoter. The plane used on the Queen + Adam Lambert tour was leased/charted. Some celebrities own private planes and jets -- but usually only when flying is a personal interest. If you are moving 40, 60 or 100 people around the US or Asia/Pacific, it is less expensive to use a corporate jet vs. commercial planes.) Buses are usually less expensive and are also often used when the distances are short.
