i am not expert and what i am about to say is only my opinion. data plans are not as cheap in OZ & NZ as they are in USA (im from NZ). but more than that, i think we lack experience. we get to see him so seldom, that we 1. dont have presence of mind/training how to do it 2. want to enjoy it uninterrupted i AM entitled as the next person, and i still cant get over the "lost" concerts (SA2 and birthday and NY ....), but honestly, when i'm at AFL concert, im not capable of taking even a photo. im very conflicted with feelings that i want vids and feeling that i just want to "take it all in". maybe we need to "employ" and finance few people who are going to travel the world and record. im from auckland, and i go to many concerts. you are right, absence of hands holding recording devices is very noticeable. maybe we haven't caught up yet, after all, we are "down under" and work at different pace. having said all of that, we got great vids from GNT and "live lounge" so im sure they'll come. once camels get them home. xxxxxxx Thanks, honey! But what do you mean by the "lost" concerts? ??? Due to lack of money, I've only seen Adam twice in my life... once 4-5 years ago, and once in July when QAL came to Vancouver. I never for one moment considered even taking a picture (left my camera at home), because I knew it was going to be my one and only chance to take it all in. I'll be curious to see if there are more cameras/phones in Sydney and Melbourne!

I find the no-vids situation kind of fascinating! Is this a Western Australia/Perth thing? Is the ubiquitous cell phone situation different there than other big Oz cities? I'm not complaining... We have thousands of videos from all the other concerts and, after so many performances, I tend to watch fewer and fewer whole videos. There are two or three songs that I always watch, but usually I tend to watch snippets when someone (like redpanda) points out specific highlights!! When I look at some of the few crowd shots from Perth, it doesn't look like half the audience is holding up cameras/phones like other concerts. This pleases me, but I'm sort of curious to know why. Do any of our Oz peeps have any insights? I'm not in the least bit surprised - what surprised me was there was a stream at all. Perhaps what many people don't realise is that Australia is very large - flying east coast to west coast takes about an hour longer than in the US. So, most people in the audience were probably not planning on attending multiple shows and this would be their only show. I doubt they wanted to spend their time behind a camera lens. There will definitely be more videos from the east coast shows and more people going to multiple shows, but it will never be to the same level as the US and Asian countries. Culturally we tend to be more laid back, more about enjoying ourselves. There weren't that many videos from the GNT shows in general in Oz relatively speaking. The two most recent concerts that I've seen in Sydney have been Cyndi Lauper and Eminem - hardly a camera in sight other than to take pictures at Cyndi's concert. The other one was Eminem. This was a really young crowd - take a look at the vid below. This is pretty typical.

themusic.com.au/music/livereviews/2014/08/23/queen-adam-lambert-perth-arena-jessicapaterson/The Queen + Adam Lambert run of Australian dates was coined a “once in a lifetime tour”. First things first, Adam Lambert is not and never will be Freddie Mercury. However, with Lambert already having to live up to the late Mercury’s purist fans, this was a heavy headline to live up to, and he held his own in front of a crowd of 15,000 spectators at Perth Arena by far surpassing any expectations with his unbelievably theatrical performance. He may not be Freddie Mercury, but Lambert oozed the sex appeal, stage presence and soaring vocals that characterised him. As the crowd waited with baited breath for the show to begin, the lights dimmed and the arena erupted into screams and applause as Lambert’s silhouette appeared behind the curtain, opening the show with Now I’m Here. The arena exploded into light with an onslaught of laser effects and finally we were graced with the presence of the rock'n'roll legends. With their musical accomplishments they could have easily done a four-hour show without covering all their most loved songs, so the two-hour concert, though lacking some fan favourites, was an impeccable sample. From guitarist Brian Mays ear splitting riffs in Another One Bites The Dust and an epic solo to close out Fat Bottomed Girls to the graceful drum duo of Roger Taylor and son, Rufus “Tiger” Taylor, it was truly a head spinning experience. Queen and Lambert turned the pumping rock show into an intimate and touching experience when May honoured Mercury in an acoustic rendition of Love Of My Life, originally performed by both May and Mercury. Throughout the show, footage of Mercury performing Bohemian Rhapsody, Love Of My Life and We Are The Champions was displayed in all its glory on the giant Q-shaped screen in the centre of the stage. Apart from May’s 15-minute distorted guitar solo (which was a little excessive), the performance was amazingly tight and the set was expertly arranged with a perfect combination of old school rock'n'roll, glam rock and contemplative sentimentality. (at least I think it is... I've never been to an Eminem concert. LOL) Massive audience and almost zero cellphones in sight! This is all really fascinating to me! I have a few Aussie relatives (from the Adelaide and Melbourne areas), and when I think about it, I can't see them wanting to film a concert, either. Way too laid back.
