Dr. Brian May @drbrianmay 10m Thanks Folks. My bird is still here. Amazing sound - always answering another one in the distance. Consensus seems to be Aussie Magpie - Bri
Dr. Brian May @drbrianmay 29m Yay ! THANKS @marcthevet - from all that way away - you solve my problem ! Thanks ! It's making an extraordinary noise - answering a mate.
So is it save to assume that we will get a song from Dr. Bri called Magpie....also loved the way he described the sound the bird was making. I love his curious mind!

I'm sorry Q3, but I must get Aftermath of the list. I don't see any impact from that performance. So my one change is replacing it with Satisfaction. Even though it is my least favorite of his AI performances, I think it is important as his first full, live song. And a lot of people went "what was that?!?" I'm included in that group. I had the tv on and was half listening while making dinner. His singing made me pop back to the tv to see what was going on. Here's my list:10. Satisfaction - because a lot of people said "what the hell was that!?!" (Not the same intent as Simons's comment for ROF) 9. WWFM - Adam returns to Idol as a successful recording artist, blows everyone away. 8. Tracks of My Tears - Adam gets Smokey's seal of approval. WOW! 7. Ring of Fire - Talk about polarizing!! 6. A Change is Gonna Come 5. Black or White. Adam was outed with kissing pics on the internet. He thought he might just have lost his big chance. He was apprehensive about what the audience reaction would be. Instead of folding, he addresses the issue with song choice, nails the performance, gets rave reviews from the judges, and is overwhelmed with relief/joy and fights back the tears during the comment section. 4. Mad World - Tears for Fears. Mad World was the performance that got Adam mass appeal. Still arguably the shows most famous performance, and critics argued its case for changing the entire idea of Idol. 3. Whole Lotta Love - First time Led Zepplin ever approved to have one of their songs used and first time "gimme your love way down inside" was ever sung on the idol stage accompanied by humping of microphone (even though the cameramen showed Adam from waist up = shades of Elvis) oh and all done while dressed like a cross between Johnny Depp's pirate and every second guy in the Castro! 2. We Are The Champions - Queen - Adam's first meeting and performance with Brian and Roger. 1. Bohemian Rhaposody - Queen - When Adam was discovered by millions of Americans, the performance that Brian May first saw. And had fans going "You had me at Ma-Ma!". Hmmmmm "Aftermath" acoustic on Idol -- 3/10/11 -- no impact. Adam promoted his Trevor Foundation IGB Remix on that show. Had anyone ever promoted an LGBT charity on Idol before that? I know that that appearance did results in several major contributions to Trevor Foundation. For me, that performance was life changing -- that performance really had an impact on me -- and oddly, on everyone on this forum indirectly. In January 2011, I started a very demanding new job. By March, I was exhausted, living in snowy Ohio with my family down in Mississippi, I was "afraid" that someone in my real life would connect me to this forum and it would be a professional issue, and I really started to question why I was taking the time to do ATop (often 11PM to 2AM was the only time I was awake and not working.) I was in the midst of huge issues in my job -- very difficult. It would have been easy most days to just quit. The same week I was think about focusing on my life and considering stopping this forum and a lot of the political work I was doing on equality, or just throwing in the towel on my "dream" job because it was too hard and I did not even know how to define success let alone know how to get there, Adam then did that performance on Idol. He sang those words, "Have you lost your way...." and for the first time I listen to a song from FYE that I usually skipped. (The Howard Benson production on the album sucks IMO.) Have you lost your way? Livin' in the shadow of the messes that you made, And so it goes, Everything inside your circle starts to overflow.
Take a step before you leap, Into the colors that you seek, You'll get back what you give away, So don't look back on yesterday!
Wanna scream out, No more hiding, Don't be afraid of what's inside! Gonna tell ya, you'll be alright, In the Aftermath!
Anytime anybody pulls you down, Anytime anybody says you're not allowed, Just remember you are not alone, In the Aftermath!
You feel the weight, Of lies and contradictions that you live with every day, It's not too late, Think of what could be if you rewrite the role you play.
So yes, this song was written about "coming out" but for me it had a different meaning. It became a song if believing in yourself and of having the strength to go on in the face of opposition. I determined not to give up anything. I was determined not to let anyone pull me down. I still have not quit my job, I still have not stopping doing ATop, and I am still working for equality (now in two states!). And whenever I get tired, I play Aftermath in my head, in my car, wherever, but always the acoustic version. The one that I can really hear the words in. Anytime anybody pulls you down,
Anytime anybody says you're not allowed,
Just remember you are not alone,
In the Aftermath!
I know I am not alone. I know that song is important to Adam. So that is 2. I know that song is important to at least one other person somewhere else. And that is why I put it on that list. So perhaps it will need to be #11 but I think it is more important that an Adam Lambert WTHWT moment. Q3, thanks for your personal testimony regarding "Aftermath." I did not mean to offend anyone. I'm glad you kept Atop going and worked through your concerns. I just remember at the time people talking about how he barely got to mention the Trevor Project on the show because of all the yammering and doing the Dougie??? People were disappointed that the song didn't make a blip on iTunes. I think the acoustic version is very beautiful, however. Someone can feel free to add it back on to the list.
