I found this quote and just had to share.... I have no idea who Henri Bergson is, but he summed up my entire life in that last sentence. “Fortunately, some are born with spiritual immune systems that sooner or later give rejection to the illusory worldview grafted upon them from birth through social conditioning. They begin sensing that something is amiss, and start looking for answers. Inner knowledge and anomalous outer experiences show them a side of reality others are oblivious to, and so begins their journey of awakening. Each step of the journey is made by following the heart instead of following the crowd and by choosing knowledge over the veils of ignorance.” -Henri Bergson Ah, so there's more people on my lonely planet than I thought... What a beautiful quote. Should have been hanging out here a long time ago

Excellent video, and something very close to my heart. I am so sick of hearing another transgender teenager has taken their life last week, the week before, the week before that, but if we can't allow kids to be what it really means to be a girl, a boy, a child, a man, a woman, a human, we're never going to accept gender expansiveness...We are all gender expansive, locked into limiting roles. As that great scholar Ru Paul ( ) says, 'You're born naked, all the rest is drag...' Nerve a truer word spoken. Thankfully I was brought up with David Bowie in his gender queer mode, so I saw thru the drag from very young...I saw Bowie as representing a more truer way to be, to me...Really brilliant video, excellent find, Toramenor... Preach! I adore RuPaul. Now that is a very wise person, in my book. Did you see his recent It Got Better video? (There's even a David Bowie reference! It's really a great interview; I wish it was longer.) www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5zGQt6EOow

Ah, so there's more people on my lonely planet than I thought... What a beautiful quote. Should have been hanging out here a long time ago Well, now you're here! Welcome, join in! Sometimes I get the feeling I'm alone in this thread.... It's become a GHOST TOWN! All the machines had been disconnected! And Elvis is dead! And love is a satire! And it's just plain awful, I tell ya! Joking, of course ...but seriously, I miss mirages -- don't know what's happened with her, probably too busy with real life... I hope she's writing

What an interesting article! The Scientific Reason Your Perception Creates Your RealityIt's not too science-y, though it has this comparison (don't let that scare you into reading the whole thing): I also like the author's conclusion: Food for thought, if nothing else... We can only guess right now, how these connections exist and what they are truly like. We can't see them, we can't touch them. Some people believe in them, others say they can "sense" them... But the truth is - we don't really know. And I think that's great: it means there's so much to discover and learn! Like the author says: we shouldn't be afraid of the unknown, but rather, see it as something positive. When we shift our perception, we change our reality.

Hello everyone:), I just finished reading through this thread and wanted to thank you for the poetry and soul searching that have been expressed here! There were some ideas that were very timely and helpful for me. Toramenor, I really look forward to reading your book! I thought this might be a good spot to share my reflections on "The Original High": I think people who have experienced fame and fortune really have a chance to experience at an accelerated rate the disillusionment with trying to find a lasting happiness with anything from the temporal, physical plane. The story of Gautoma Buddha really exemplifies this- he was born a prince who had all the finest things of life. Because of a prophecy at his birth that he would either become a universal monarch or a great spiritual teacher, his father tried to keep him shielded from any of the realities of life. But ultimately Gautoma became restless and went out of the palace compound and saw examples of old age, sickness and death, which made him realize he had to find a truth beyond all the comforts of the royal life. I think "The Original High" is really a search for our original nature that is beyond birth and death.

Very interesting connection. Nice one, Sarawati... explore.brainpickings.org/post/127197556233/amanda-palmer-eight-months-pregnant-andAmanda Palmer, eight months pregnant and exquisitely painted, recreates Damien Hirst’s Verity statue (top) in a performance art piece for the New York Public Library’s children’s book drive. Proud papa-to-be Neil Gaiman (bottom) extends a loving hand to this modern-day nude descending a staircase, after donating a copy of his own charming children’s book, Chu’s Day. For more of Palmer’s beautiful bibliophilia, treat yourself to her bewitching poetry readings of Polish Nobel laureate Wislawa Szymborska.

Thanks, saraswati I like your reflections, keep them coming I've always liked that story about Gautama and what it says about truth and reality...

I'm so into body painting right now, because of that show "Skin Wars". Do you know it? It's a reality competition show (nothing new about the format), but the contestants compete in creating extraordinary body paintings! The art is incredible, the artists are all so talented and creative - I just love that show! There have been two seasons already, and guess who's one of the main judges: Mr RuPaul Charles himself! But it's not about the judges - it's all about the artists and their art - which is how it should be. Sure, there's competition, but these are artists - their "fights" are with brushes and paint. (Again, how all fights should be.) *** Speaking of art, here's a little thought from me on that subject: Art is similar to food, only food is material: fuel for the body; while art is energy: fuel for the mind. And just like food, without art we would not exist, we could not survive...
