I go to many concerts a year. If it is a solo artist, the back up band doesn't even enter my thoughts when buying tickets. & rarely during their concert. TBH, I have mostly enjoyed all Adam's bands except for Brian's vocals. Really bad! Not sure, but I think the pay for union musicians working back up is set. Don't know any big name musicians that do back up! Queen? Hahaha, j/k I will admit to giving some thought of avoiding listening to RJ relentlessly bang that drum, but it would not stop me from going to a concert close to me. Would I spend a boatload of money to travel somewhere ... probably not as long as there were one close by. Queen is not a back up band!! Not the same. Just as Bon Jovi is a band. They are not a back up for Jon. Or Aerosmith is not back up for Steven! Are you all getting "back up band" and "band" confused?

There is another way to look at this. There was a time when all 'this sexuality thing' was extremely hush-hush and many people in the "norm" had no idea that there was a group of people shunned by society. They lived on the outskirts in precarious circumstances which could blow up in a heartbeat. Now, every time someone is identified as "gay" and there is anyone listening who identifies in some way with that person, then "gay" just becomes the awesome guy down the street until finally it becomes irrelevant. So when people refer to Adam as "openly gay", they are really putting another nail in that "other" coffin. That is the way I chose to look at it and although I would never presume to speak for Adam, I think that he has come around to that view and understands his relevance to an inclusive society. Just glanced through dozens of online articles about current 'IT' boy, Sam Smith (whom I enjoy and whose music I own)................ not one started with 'openly gay'. Every article begins with lines like 'buttery voiced soul singer' ...... 'emotive Brit neo-soul singer'. Why is this? Is it because he has chosen to come out in a much quieter way? Is it because his sexless, average looking, everyman image (and music) appeals more to the mainstream? Probably "sexless" is a key descriptor here and also maybe British because, you know, those crazy guys from across the pond ... what do you expect. o.0

Under these circumstances, my mother would look at me and for the umpteenth time call me, "Smart Ass".

I think Adam sounds better with male back up singers also. I never got used to the girls. I remember when he was in London at a show and he had male back up singers. They sounded great. Anybody else remember that.

Just to join in the discussion but I've been around musicians for something like 25 years and I've been on the road with a rock band a LOT. And there are many, MANY very talented and even brilliant musicians out there and they struggle to make much money. A friend of mine is a stupendous and studied guitar player and he is hired often by very well known german singers/ bands for studio recordings or for concerts and he is getting paid really badly. Maybe it's very different here in Europe/ Germany but I don't see that money can be such a big part of Adam's decision to keep the musicians he has. Oh and to tell you a secret , after QAL in Las Vegas on the second night I met Bon Jovis guitarist (no - not Richie Sambora ) in a bar. And he was quite talkative (Margaritas?) and actually a very nice guy. And he told me and my friends that even he has a hard time with paying his bills when Bon Jovi isn't on tour. That's why he and the other members of the cast of "Raiding the Rock Vault" in Las Vegas are soooo glad for the safety this employment gives them. Which is a pity to be honest

Thank you to Mark Bowles for the great QAL videos!! Cheers to you!! Katerina @jadelle1 57m Mark Bowles is a Queen fan, right? I like that he creates vids that are mostly focused on Adam and with lots of closeups \o/
He is a Queen fan....of course all the footage he gets to use are from glamberts...so I wouldn't thank him for making the choice of Adam close ups etc. You can only work with what ya got! Lol!!! Thank god for glamberts though or as I wouldn't have heard half the shows!

I need help! Are you here Talon?! Anybody?! I accidentally sent my brother (we can't talk about Adam with each other ) the Hear I Am and Stone Cold Crazy video I posted earlier and now he's asking just what does Stone Cold Crazy actually mean in the song! Isn't it just a crazy dream they are singing about? It's never really been explained but I believe it's a song about youth getting bored and needing to break out and go crazy.... Of course "playin' on my slide trombone' is a nice entendre....

I would like Adam's next tour (or one in the future) to look something like this:
Well, he has already done the Zodiac Show. :D Yes, but he hasn't produced the Zodiac Show.

Recently, my daughter and I were watching Sam Smith sing on an award show and she mentioned that she liked him. I asked her if she knew he was gay and she didn't. She is 25 and is not an Adam fan at all. We got to talking about Adam compared to Sam, vocally, and she said that she enjoyed Sam more because Adam's flamboyance turns her off. I think this may be a problem with a whole lot of people because we just aren't that evolved yet. Sam is more palatable than Adam is to the masses. It is what it is.

Day-um, adamrocks, if you keep this up I will never get off this computer! If I wasn't still enjoying the Sydney restaurant shot of Adam as my screensaver so much, this would take it's place. This made me laugh out loud. Okay, you are killing me! This is the best thing ever, so spot on: I too have the restaurant pic as my screensaver AND have right clicked save on Geoffrey's observation. He definitely gets it. I'm now going to copy it over to my FB.
