With all of Levine's exposure, Voice, top singles, the Maroon 5 album sells 160K. Nothing to sneeze at but not great either! Their last album, in 2012, sold 222K the first week. Album sales are really in the toilet! Wow that's low. Then U2 gives their new album away for free! I'm not sure what the logic is on that one... U2 didn't give the album away, Apple did. U2 sold exclusive distribution until Oct 13th to Apple for an undisclosed amount. Flat rate. Probably not actual wholesale price for 500 million records but I have no doubt it was a huge chunk of change. The distinction here is that the Artists are not the ones giving the music away. Yes the fans get the album free but the artists still got paid. In order for artists to survive they have to be able to make money. Whether that money comes from sales of the actual art or from other sources is one of the things the industry is grappling with. For U2 this deal is an obvious win win because they got paid and the fans got the album free. But more importantly not only fans but everyone with an itunes account has access to the music. For Bono this is like going to heaven. His dream has always been to get their music out to as many people as possible. This rivals Live Aid for the biggest potential exposure of their music to people. One of the gripes I have with "rock fans" is while they jumped on the bandwagon of pirating music as a way of sticking it to the big record companies they simultaneously "punished" the artists for doing anything else to be able to make money. Hip Hop artists were able to embrace consumerism and score sponsorship deals, product placements and all kinds of merchandising opportunities without their core fans accusing them of "selling out" like the rock fans did. I personally think what has killed rock is the endless restrictions the fans have put on what the artists can and can't do. Here's a blog from Amanda Palmer that comments on this release. amandapalmer.net/blog/20140910/

I've been watching QAL vid's… a couple of questions
I've notice a camera man constantly recording the shows. I've seen one filming Roger only. Another vid, I've notice one filming Brian. I do see the camera filming Adam at times. Never noticed cameras for both Roger and Brian at the same venue. Any reason for this??? archives but why specifically focused on just one artist? just curious aids (
Does Spike and Neil wear hearing (not sure that's the right term) to hear the music. I know Brian doesn't but with the instruments so loud, I would think they might to hear the beat as Adam does.
Cassie, or anyone…..I watched SOMEBODY TO LOVE in Toronto July 13, 2014 last night. DId anyone catch that he held that note almost 22 secs?? Is that the longest note??? AI he held a note but wasn't that for 13 or 14 secs? Also noted Brian gave a call out to Adam after that song. I don't recall other shows Brian praising other than the "what do you think of our new guy" etc. Well anyway, Toronto was great

Then they have a rover or two for the rest or for different angles. And also in case B or R wanted to see something back for whatever reason later on...always improving. During the downtime...I just stumbled across this...it appears legit. I've never heard of Omnivore but there is a Hollywood Records imprint as well. If anyone ever wanted to check out Roger's solo stuff but The Lot box set was too much it appears that there will be a North American compilation entitled: BEST coming out Oct 28th. Not sure if it's order only or it will be in stores but I'll get it (cause I collect ) Preorder from Omnivore's Website

I just went into iTunes and mine was already in my purchased items, so I just downloaded it.
