OT, but tonight is the final match of the Basketball World Cup in Madrid, the USA Vs Serbia. And although the USA has a very special place in my heart because it gave me Adam Lambert (and lots of other goodies), I'll be rooting for Serbia Напред наши!!! OT If Serbia wins it will be a very big upset -- but is possible. Serbia has quite a good team -- and by far the best team the US has faced in this tournament. It is possible because it matters more for Serbia than the US. But I think the US players really want the bye into the Olympics -- and will win, even with the relatively weak team we sent to this competition. (The US team is composed of average NBA players vs. a star team, and 8 players are out with injuries or fear of injuries.) Even though basketball has become more and more international, the best US players can beat any country's team. The wildcard here is that the US national team is not the best US players. So while I can't root for Serbia, it might be a good thing for the US to lose this so that the US sends are really good team to the 2016 Olympics. Is this game being televised? I don't see it anywhere in my guide!

I don't know why US didn't send its best team. Maybe they wanted average players to get their chance, practice a little? For Serbian players, it's a huge honour to be invited to play in the national team. We'll see;) It would be a huge surprise if we won, I know. We took everyone by surprise in Indianapolis in 2002. as well, winning the gold medal in the middle of US:)))

Thanks, betty, butterfly, and revlisa and one and all for the good wishes and Adam blessings! In honour of your birthday, and may it be the happiest for you, dear, I'm going to repost the most beautiful essay anyone has ever written about Adam: "SEANACHIE" BY JUNIEMOON "The Irish have a word — Seanachie (shawn-a-key) that means storyteller. That means a person who entertains not only with words but by creating an experience, an entire alternate world that exists alongside of this one. Adam Lambert is a seanachie. We can run away from the stories he tells or the mirror he holds up in front of us ("I’ll be your mirror" — remember?). What do you see?
We can edit our narratives and make them tiny because of the passage of time, or the dreams that died in failure years ago, or even because inside we’re still just the same scared and lonely kid we always were, a kid who found escape in music even though even back then we weren’t the least bit cool, just fat and acne-scarred and in sad possession of offbeat tastes that we clung doggedly to for reasons unknown, so that no one in a position of authority would have given a damn about us or whether we ever got a happy ending.
OR, at long freaking last, we could turn to a fun, fascinating, loving, and inclusive pied piper who invited us to go on a magic carpet ride with him — yes! even us! - “no matter what other people think.” Someone with the power to bring back that long ago feeling that — because of his music, because of his unapologetic weirdness, because he’s “standing here with no apologies” — that even in this screwed up sad old world, we are never alone. That maybe tonight we’re taking over the town.
People like to talk a lot about Adam’s backup singers or lack there of. But the thing is, as a seanachie, Adam is the backup singer. He’s the backup singer for us. Because the only voice we can give to our narrative is ultimately our own. And because of this, we are free. He just puts the steel in our spines. Thanks, Adam.”

Thanks, Juniemoon! And thanks, aleks, for re-posting juniemoon's essay. I was away from the internet last week when it was posted, but when I saw it yesterday I mentally bookmarked it, planning to steal it away over to the "After Hours" thread ( adamtopia.com/board/82/after-hours) because that last paragraph is so much about what I hope to see there ... people using the inspiration Adam is to put steel in their spines and courage in their hearts to find their own voice and sing their OWN songs. IMHO, in addition to buying Adam's music and attending his concerts whenever we can, that's the best return of energy in the infinity loop from artist to audience that we could give Adam, and the world needs every authentic voice it can get right now. Thank you both for yours, strong and true!

Since it is a slow day and there were some Upright Cabaret videos posted recently, I decided to look at their website. There are 9 pages of artist bios. I am sure this is already in the wonderful archives kept by 4Msrmyn, but I didn't check. The bio for Adam is very old but I liked the photo. Always interesting to see photos before he got the gauges...in fact made me wonder what year he got them. I'm guessing 2007, but have no idea. Anyway, here is his bio from their site: www.uprightcabaret.com/artists/?pagenum=4Adam Lambert (as usual, I couldn't get the photo to show up...) Adam Lambert recently appeared at the Pantages Theatre in the LA Company of Wicked understudying "Fiyero" and appearing in the ensemble. Adam's breakthrough theatre performance was as Joshua in The Ten Commandments at the Kodak Theatre in 2004 opposite Val Kilmer. His tour de force performance became a press and crowd favorite with the New York Times calling him “the most consistent crowd-wower” and the LA Times stating that his “personal sound and style… (was) the best.” After The Ten Commandments, Adam was cast to understudy “Fiyero” in the 1st National Broadway Tour of Wicked. Musical Theatre credits include, Hair (European Tour '03), 110 in the Shade (Pasadena Playhouse), On the 20th Century (Reprise!), Evita (Civic Light Opera of South Bay Cities), Grease, Chess (Moonlight Ampitheatre). In addition to theatre work, Adam has also ventured into the Hollywood music scene. He has been collaborating with Composer/Guitarist Monte Pittman (Madonna) for close to three years. Together they've formed an alt/pop/rock/electro band called THE CITIZEN VEIN. They are currently working with Producer Malcolm Welsfords and A&R Worldwide to record an album. Adam has performed at the Henry Fonda Music Box in the glam-rock revue the "The Zodiac Show", the Key Club and in "Club Makeup's Halloween Show". He is currently on the prowl for additional producers and musical collaborators. Please visit myspace.com/adamlambertmusic for original material. And of course, the myspace page no longer exists.....
