Unlike some of the bizarre stories claimed by American Idol contestants, that they auditioned on a "whim" or someone else prodded them along and/or they never had a singing lesson in their life, there are plenty who have had semi-successful careers before AI. Adam Lambert (season 8) was one of those; he had found partial successes, many singing jobs and had good vocal and theatrical training, and had even done some recording. Unfortunately for Adam and some of other Idol contestants who had successes before AI like Daughtry (season 5), Joanna Pacitti (season 8) and Crystal Bowersox (season 9) to name a few, the main thing missing was a fan base. American Idol, if you were good enough to make top 10, provided that.
I think we were less crazy than I expected us to be. No major meltdowns, no fights, no drama (well, not too much;)... I don't know if it was because of QAL and Glee, which were delightful distractions, or we got more ...mature:) Nice:) I somehow feel that if Adam knew I called his (one of the) major career achievements 'distractions', he would burn me at the stake.
Anyhow, I cannot wait for Adam's music. Literally, cannot bloody wait. It's an itch only he can scratch. I don't frickin care about tactics and strategy, I just want him to give it to me, asap. New single before New Year's? Yes.
BUT, I do think that this QAL thing is much more important for him than it seems, and I'm going to write something about it. I have a title and all:) And nothing else:)) It is going to be called 'Adam is a marshmellow', and although it sounds a bit dirty, it's not about sex, I promise. Do not ask... It all makes sense in my head:)))
I think that you are on track. I believe the fandom has gotten more mature -- and so has Adam. Plus, Glee + Queen + his LGBT advocacy have built his reputation. It is not like he has been standing still. I think the end of 2012 and most of 2013 were harder on fans -- more angst.
Since iHR 2013 Q+AL performance it has all seemed uphill to me.
Anyone know the story behind how QAL got chosen for IHR 2013? Did Ryan Seacrest approach Adam about doing the gig or what?

FEDERAL JUDGE STRIKES DOWN ALASKA'S BAN ON GAY MARRIAGE BY ANDY TOWLE
A federal judge has ruled that Alaska's same-sex marriage ban is unconstitutional, Alaska Dispatch News reports:
Judge Timothy Burgess wrote in a summary judgment that Alaska's "refusal to recognize same-sex marriages lawfully entered in other states is unconstitutional as a deprivation of basic due process and equal protection principles under the Fourteenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution."
