It's good it's the end of the night.
These are my thoughts; in no particular order, and not in reply to anyone. I always show up late. So it is what it is. Altho I'm reading the thread every day, I've had little to contribute beyond the excellent posts I find. I'm only here now because I need to talk to someone - anyone! - about Adam; and you - my intimate, internet friends, are my only circle. I've always said scroll is your friend.
Sam Smith's new song "I'm Not The Only One", is one I'm singing along to in the car. I think it's terrific! I haven't seen his videos or performances, but this song is one I'm looking forward to hearing, every time it comes on the radio - and it comes on alot.
I don't begrudge his success one bit. His success has nothing to do with Adam, IMO. Sam Smith is sweet and honest and totally benign to me. He may make people sit up and listen; his voice is a beautiful instrument; but he isn't making ME excited or amazed or feeling like I'm hearing the voice of a lifetime. He isn't changing me.
I don't think he has anything to do with Adam.
Adam is a different animal. A different species of talent. He will not follow the trajectory of anyone. He can't. He won't. So, I can't compare him to anyone before; or anyone now. He's not a JT or MJ or Prince or Judy Garland or Frank or Tony or Al Jolson. He will not fade away and he will not leave music for any other pursuit. Music is not in his blood. Music IS his blood, and he will sing and create and jive and scat and masturbate to the tempo as long as the beat goes on.
And, when he comes up for air, he'll preen and he'll shop and he'll party and he'll seek the advice and camaraderie of others who also live for the stage and the performance and the notes and the blocking and the light and that audience - whose yearning and adoration he understands.
Our gift is we've discovered the pride of the pride of lions. I'm not worried for a moment that the fame of others will distract or inhibit Adam from achieving his place in his art. Without a 'hit' record in four years, his fame and his recognition as a stellar vocalist just keeps rising. You and I don't have to wish Adam's way to stardom; this is to be his inevitable, iconic fate. All he needed to do was be ready for the challenge and the call. He is piloting his journey, I feel sure. If he is not worried about lack of 'Adam news', why should we? He can create headlines at any time; he can dazzle a crowd. I see the picking and choosing of opportunities and moments. They are, to me, the mark of an intelligent artist at the top of his game. He doesn't need headlines to create magic.
I really owe such love to all of you - Adamrocks, Tinafea, melliemom, s*&@^#r, Alex, betty, ladymaserati, LindaG23, Q3, vivlite - - - and many more - - - who keep the wheels of Adamtopia turning when we are bereft of news.
You keep me afloat when I see my little boat beginning to tip and take on water. Real life; cynical, judgmental, impatient, complicated life is overtaking and muting the joy I've felt for five magical years. I don't want this to happen! My joyful moments have been so amazing and unspeakably wonderful. "Infatuation has turned to love"; this is surely so. Adam's voice, supremely present at the Live Proud performance, brought me back. Brings me back, every time, even when the sky isn't as bright as it used to be. Don't have to believe in Adam. I just know.
But, I wonder how much I believe in me.

Momtomany - it is the heart, the soul, the spirit, the joy in you which lights the path. Walk your heart, and you walk your path. Sometimes it is with Adam, but many times it is with you alone. You are much loved, even by strangers. You have observed the pain in life in your work and maybe the pain is closer now. Much of humanity is stressed. Ignore their reactions. It is not because of you. Keep shining your bright light. The world needs it.

I think that for all of us Adam creates such joy in us that we are overloaded with endorphins and we miss that "hit" when he is off getting ready to give us another load of endorphins. I know he's often helped me get through some grim RL stuff.
