Speculation has been running rampant that the iconic rock band would sneak into the recording studio, during the tour, to record new tracks with Adam at the mic.
That didn’t happen.
What did happen, however, is that the band found a new groove with Adam in the spotlight.
And now the band’s original drummer, Roger Taylor, has revealed to Billboard Magazine that the group’s been talking about waxing some tracks together — and that he’s “sure” Queen + Adam Lambert will be recording soon.
“I think it would be an interesting experiment,” Roger told Billboard.
“It would be nice to just go in, and see what came out,” Roger added. “I don’t know if it would be an album or anything. But I think it’s too good a marriage to just let it go at touring.”
After thinking about it, Roger then continued: “I’m sure we’ll do something. [Adam’s] voice is so extraordinary! And it’s a beautiful instrument! I think it would be nice [to record together].
I guess we better come up with some material,” he added. “We’ve sort of mentioned it, yeah. But not in a serious way. I think we’ll probably get this [upcoming European] tour over with, and maybe it will come up while we’re touring…’Do you want to try and write something?’”
Roger did reveal one golden nugget to Billboard.
He confessed that a recent Queen + Adam Lambert show in Sydney, Australia was filmed. And that audio recordings of each show on the tour were also recorded.
Roger didn’t reveal any plans for immediate release of the filmed show.
