From what I have read, Robert Plant can no longer sing the Zeppelin songs as they were originally recorded and performed. Cannot come anywhere close to his signature power, range and sound. Paying him a boatload of money cannot change his body. As much as Branson wants to recreate the Zeppelin of his youth, it is not possible. Now, if he would consider bringing in a fiery, amazing young vocalist who has already proven how well he can sing a Zeppelin song, the result could be classic Zeppelin again. But, I think that vocalist already has a gig.

Does anyone know if Robert Plant or any of Led Zeppelin ever said anything about Adam's WLL? From what I recall in 2009 I read somewhere, on a local radio station. That RP said it was the best WLL cover he had ever heard. But their has never been any audio, or evidence to support it. I choose to live in a world where its true though haha.

Yes, I am with you on this one. Robert Plant is fine and is required for anything call LZ. The lack of a tour seems to be about the Jimmy-Robert relationship and I never really paid much attention to the personal dynamics of the band. So totally outside my realm of knowledge. And since neither Jimmy Page or Robert Plant "need" more money, I don't think the money matters. This could change in the near future. (see below). ** More interesting is how could 32 concerts be worth $500 million? That would need to be a stadium tour. It is one thing to sign up for an arena tour but a full stadium show is a lot to put together. And, if not great, could be a bad business decision. ** Many LZ songs were not written by LZ. The have settled a few of these claims over the years but they have a big one in the works. The "Stairway to Heaven" lawsuit is going forward in US courts and the STH suit will cost the writers, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, a lot of money -- even if they settle. Many of the songs are traditional folk or gospel songs so there is no artist to sue but there are some that are likely to happen in the future, the ones in Italics were settled. But the ones in bold are potential cases: "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" - A folk song by Anne Bredon, this was originally credited as "traditional, arranged by Jimmy Page," then "words and music by Jimmy Page," and then, following legal action, "Bredon/Page/Plant." "Black Mountain Side" - uncredited version of a traditional folk tune previously recorded by Bert Jansch. "Bring It On Home" - the first section is an uncredited cover of the Willie Dixon tune (as performed by the imposter Sonny Boy Williamson). "Communication Breakdown" - apparently derived from Eddie Cochran's "Nervous Breakdown." "Custard Pie" - uncredited cover of Bukka White's "Shake 'Em On Down," with lyrics from Sleepy John Estes's "Drop Down Daddy." "Dazed And Confused" - uncredited cover of the Jake Holmes song (see The Above Ground Sound Of Jake Holmes). Settled in 2012. "Hats Off To (Roy) Harper" - uncredited version of Bukka White's "Shake 'Em On Down." Listed now as "Traditional, arr. Charles Obscure" "How Many More Times" - Part one is an uncredited cover of the Howlin' Wolf song (available on numerous compilations). Part two is an uncredited cover of Albert King's "The Hunter." "In My Time Of Dying" - uncredited cover of the traditional song (as heard on Bob Dylan's debut). "The Lemon Song" - uncredited cover of Howlin' Wolf's "Killing Floor" - Wolf's publisher sued Zeppelin in the early 70s and settled out of court. "Moby Dick" - written and first recorded by Sleepy John Estes under the title "The Girl I Love," and later covered by Bobby Parker. This one may have 2 more songs used in it. "Nobody's Fault But Mine" - uncredited cover of the Blind Willie Johnson blues. This is one of many gospel songs they lifted. "Since I've Been Lovin' You" - lyrics are the same as Moby Grape's "Never," though the music isn't similar. "Stairway To Heaven" - the main guitar line is apparently from "Taurus" by Spirit. Court battle just started. This will be expensive if they lose. "White Summer" - uncredited cover of Davey Graham's "She Moved Through The Fair." Came to LZ via the Yardbirds. "Whole Lotta Love" - lyrics are from the Willie Dixon blues "You Need Love."

Brian wasn't scheduled to play at awards..so I doubt if awards show paid his way why would they think about guitar? J/s Brian played in the very last performance, a group number. Plus they would want to have all the winners there since it is to be broadcast on TV. Clearly I did not punctuate that sentence correctly. Of course they want all their winners present. I did not know about this group number (i apparently wasnt paying attention after they received their award) so whatever. I was only responding to why wouldnt an award show not pay to properly transport his guitar.

I will believe that exists when I hear it. IF Robert Plant had ever mentioned Adam Lambert cover of WWL, someone would have noticed it. As far as I can determine, neither Jimmy Page or Robert Plant have ever mentioned Adam in an interview. They may be something hiding on video or audio -- but it would have to have no comments or news reports. ETA: Oh my! I just looked at all my long posts!! Just get me started on LZ and I can go, and go, and go......opps! Please just scroll by them.

Oh that makes sense but I think Brian was scheduled to perform because otherwise why was Pete (his guitar tech) traveling with him? I think they did not reveal the performance because Joe Perry winning was supposed to be a surprise. Brian also was there to give the award to Joe, and committed to be there before the "Best Band" voting was done. So unless they rigged the fan vote, he agreed to attend before he could have known he won anything.

Well I certainly didn't know there was a guitar tech traveling with him until we heard about the guitar situation. So on that note. I don't think I will comment on anything else because I am getting the distinct feeling of constant correction. So shame on me for saying a damn thing!

Robert Plant has a bio out (came out a few years ago) is on my to read list - he has taken a pretty deliberate u turn into a different sound. His collab with Allison Krauss (Raising Sand) won Grammies and is a great record. Kind of has a Bluegrass inspired rock sensibility with a blues kicker... if you haven't heard it check it out.
I think Plant is smart enough to know that he would get the brunt of any less than stellar performances - it's just about impossible to compete with people's memories especially after such a long break. Bands like the Stones get away with not being what they once were because there is a continuum, much harder to stop for decades and then come back (unless you have a hot young gun that you can drink blood from)... :-)
