Gabrielle, so sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved dog. It's tough, they're so much part of your family.
Down 1 lb. this week. Not great, but I'll take it. Every week we seem to have something going on that gets me off the plan. Dinner out, afternoon tea & cake, this weekend we're away visiting friends and going to a concert and dinner, so with all that, I'm ok with just the 1 lb. loss, but really do want to do better soon! Sending you all strength this week!

Great job everyone checking in. I'm battling an uncooperative computer, at least it let me back up my data but I'm limited to tablets & netbooks grrr. I'm still up because I fed that dang cold I had but I'm headed back in the right direction at least now but still above where I'm counting from.

Wednesday - Check In Day
So listening to an 18 second clip or drooling at 8 photos doesn't neccesarily give any time left to walk 10,000 steps a day. Maybe that's a good reason to invest in Google glasses? Heh
I'm doing much better that last part of this week, is 2 days enough to be considered to be "on a roll? Yeah, probably not.
I now have a wrist Fitbit. I think it might record extraneous movement too as I passed my 10,000 step goal one time while I had been sitting for 10 minutes but it really does show the difference between days I'm just home even if I walk the dogs and days that I sub at school where I'm on my feet all day. Problem is that knees and feet really don't like 10,000 step days so I have to make sure I do my recumbent bike. I find it's web interface to be a bit clunky to use, I don't understand why it needs the time of my bike riding as well as the duration for example, but the alarm function is cool.

Doing a little better this week and down a pound. Trying to increase my fiber intake (eating more vegetables than fruit). Also trying to cook more because I just don't feel like cooking much of the time and just eat what is laying around. I am down lower than I have been in years. Slow and steady wins the race.

Thanks everyone for your kind words last week!
When I weighed myself this morning I was down almost 3 lbs from last week. I have now dropped a total of 20 lbs and almost 2 dress sizes but it has been a really long haul. It has taken 6 months....so slow and steady I think is the best way to accomplish most goals.
My DH who is not the most observant person finally commented on my weight loss and he actually has asked to follow my diet plan. So far so good!
I would like to get a Fitbit too with spring coming I'm sure my activity level will increase. The weight loss is great but I think that fitness is even more important.

If you are asking why Fitbit needs the time, it is because when you do an exercise and log it fitbit blocks that chunk of time out and replaces their calculations with the logged amounts. If you are doing an exercise that is not step related, like bicycling it needs to know the time period so that it removes any steps recorded. You can see this effect if you compare the step on the device (if the display shows the count) to the steps on the website. I was up about .8 today. Let's just say I've been eating well.

Almost forgot to check in. Crazy day as I resigned from a job I have been at for 10 years for a new opportunity. I was down 1 lb this morning. Probably up 3 tonight as my husband took me out for a celebratory dinner !
