I cannot stop listening to "Save Me." Imagine how magnificent it will be after a couple more performances. There was a comment on the thread yesterday about how smoothly Sam Smith transitioned between chest and head voice. Another member said they heard a very pronounced shift that was not smooth at all. I ain't gonna enter that debate. I will simply say, if you want to hear a seamless transition, listen the the very last line of SM. "I'm naked and I'm far ah AHHHR FROM home." That top A4 is in his bell-like head voice. It is perfectly blended into a light chest voice. I have listened to the last part from the "save" high note through that seamless up and down on "far from home" over and over and over again. Such an inspired choice of phrasing. Adam's phrasing and interpretation throughout the whole song is a thing of beauty. I can't handle his live singing voice for long stretches (and I'm not sure about him on a personal level), but I really like Sam Smith's CD. His type of music is right up my street. Neat behind-the-scenes look at the tour from Brian with the gorgeous Adam cameo. Have a great time in London, bamafan! Awesome auditions previews. I'm so stoked for Adam guest judging on Idol tonight! |

It's so wonderful that each of these supremely talented musicians can surprise each other during a show. That's a D5. He hits a number of those throughout the concert. It is well within his range without taxing his voice, and he seems to have "limited" himself to that note and one half step higher for most of his glory notes. It is glorious enough that he doesn't really need to reach much higher, does he? (It is the high note for WWTLF, also) |
