The downside to travelling to see QALs is that it's so difficult to keep in touch on Atop. I have read almost nothing of the threads since Tuesday and I can't wait to read about Idol and Record deals.....we live in exciting times! (and more...) THANK YOU for a wonderful and funny recap!  |

As for the guide - it really was a labor of love - I'll have to go back in and update with the new tour and info! But I love doing it and love that people discover my favorite band through it "Discover" is an understatement talon. I've learned everything I know about Queen from Adamtopia, your guide especially. Your posts and Q3's posts and so many others that share their love and knowledge of Queen here have taught me so much. But the best part of all this is that I'm TOTALLY in love with Queen now. My previous knowledge consisted of the hits played on American radio only. Now I'm discovering this amazing catalog. Some I recognize (that was Queen?) but most I'd never heard. (And don't even get me started on Brian May!) So from the bottom of my heart I thank you all. I love this place. |

FINALLY! Intergalactic Sonic Boom Adam Lambert has announced his new record label (Warner Bros.) and his new album, which will be released “early summer.” As expected, he’s working again with Swedish mega-producer Max Martin, but unlike Adam’s debut album, Martin will have a hand in the entire production, as well as producer Shellback, who may or may not be a giant sea tortoise, I’m not sure. Adam talks to Billboard about the project. Here are some choice quotes: What was important to you in a new deal? Adam Lambert: Finding a home that was the right fit. As you know, leaving RCA was really due to creative differences. They are great people over there. I have a really nice relationship, but it didn’t feel like we wanted the same things with this next chapter, and so I chose to part ways with them. How did you, Max and Shellback reconnect? Lambert: I was working on demos and scheduled a meeting with them. They’re two of my favorite producers and at the very top of their game. I love everything they do, and was really excited to sit back down with them after having worked on For Your Entertainment. It was great to reminisce and laugh. It was an easy, humble, casual vibe, and when you’re in the studio, that’s what you want. I played them a song and we got very excited. They heard my personal growth, and lyrically, the things that I was trying to say. Long story short, they offered me a deal to be executive producers of this album, and that felt like a big moment. It’s been six years since America first saw you on Idol, what have you learned about the music business in that time? Lambert: When you come into this quickly with the trajectory out of American Idol, it’s really easy to see the business like a fan would: you don’t see the ins and outs of it. And you learn once you are in it. With Trespassing, I learned a lot about radio. I learned a lot about my fans through the years — the big picture of it and how you have to listen to them. Being on stage with Queen and remembering the most important things about music and performance are the most timeless things: it transcends trend and popularity contests. It is more about truth, emotion, honesty and the connection with the audience, the music and the moment. [The Queen tour] has been good for me on a confidence level. It’s made me feel like I’m on the right path, and humbled at the same time. I am stepping into a position that used to be occupied by the greatest frontman of all time. Adam Lambert's American Idol story has come full circle: from nervous audition-er to "superstar" judge. While shooting a round of auditions with Harry Connick Jr. and Jennifer Lopez for the upcoming season of the popular singing contest, Connick asked Lambert if he would be willing to recreate his original audition for the show from season 8. The current Queen frontman originally auditioned with the Queen uber classic, "Bohemian Rhapsody." Foreshadowing of things to come. Lambert took Connick's challenge and delivered a pitch perfect performance even better than his original. Lambert has also just announced a new album that marks the beginning of a partnership with Warner Bros. music. Said Warner Bros. CEO Cameron Strang of his decision to sign Lambert after Lambert left RCA, "The potential is worldwide superstar. He has fans all over the world. He's he's got one of the great voices and he's coming into his own as a person and as a man. He more comfortable with himself and his artistic vision of himself and I think there's a confidence and a freedom that comes with having made more than one record." Lambert's new album will see him re-team with Swedish pop god Max Martin ("Baby One More Time") and Shellback, who together gave Lambert the hits "Whataya Want From Me" and "If I Had You" off his debut album "For Your Entertainment." Lambert told Billboard that this new album feels like a departure for him: "The album feels like a new era for me -- emotionally, lyrically, sonically. It feels fresh, it feels new. It's still me. It's still stuff that fans know and love but it's a new chapter 100 percent." The first single is due out in April. |
