I'm bringing over Momtomany's O2 recap for her because the London thread is about dead now.
Momtomany's Recap!
Home Sweet Home . . . .
Not quite adjusted yet.
3:20AM, wide awake at the computer.
Today, and in the coming weeks I'll rush home after work to Adamtopia each day; and revel in the comments, photos, videos, and recaps of what's been conjured up on that golden stage.
A kind of magic, indeed!
I paid homage to the Universe that floats behind Brian in the 'Q', and for eight days it really was a pleasure cruise on a rocket ship on its way to Mars . . . sharing the journey with such lively and lovely friends. Just now, mentally, I tried to go around the dinner table at the O2 and list each person, but if I missed someone - anyone - I would shrivel in embarrassment. We must have had nearly twenty in all! Every single person so uniquely special - there we were, from all over the map, singularly devoted and thrilled over what we had seen or were about to see.
Just a few comments about the London Days of O2 -
Think Adam's hair was all-over darker on Sunday - matching the dark, rich tones of his lower register.
Adam is adored! I mean, every man, woman, child had hearts in their eyes; even as they'd shake their heads in absolute awe over his voice, his looks, his 'body language' . . . just like us!
Roger's shoes look to be covered in shiny little glass or plastic beads - mostly red!
Roger's eyes are transfixed on Adam as they sing 'Under Pressure' -
The nimble stage crew move with absolute precision; they are performers, too, and their role in creating this seamless, confident production is worthy of knighthood! They build the set! They prepare the Kabuki curtain, tweak the drum kits; switch out guitars and microphones; deftly care for that beloved chaise; light the way off and onstage; monitor every moment, and when it's over their works amps up - tearing down and packing every piece of equipment; every screw; untangling the miles of cable; and leaving the venue with nary a piece of confetti in remembrance of what took place. It's a little like 'Burning Man' to me - their 'Leave No Trace' philosophy in action. When I was backstage I noticed how Brian said hello to everyone he passed, greeting each member of this marvelous team by name.
I was in the stands - first row about midway down - for both O2 shows. Great vantage point for watching the standing GA crowd begin as a calm sea that became more turbulent through the night; until, by the end, their mighty roars and gestures and singing just crashed towards the stage; a huge breaking wave of love for Queen - and Adam.
We all became part of Bohemian Rhapsody, backlighting the arena with thousands of cellphone beams from every corner. It was collective devotion; our intimate display of love - of Brian & Roger, of Freddie, of Adam and the resurrection and new life given this music. Suspended in beauty and wonder.
London itself was on 'high alert' - given the world events of late.
Our little shuttle to the tube station was stopped at a barricade, and the officer leaned in and wiped the steering wheel of the vehicle with some sort of revealing cloth, and then let us through.
At Heathrow yesterday, every container was inspected - not just the small ones put into a quart-sized bag. A very polite, efficient woman checked my mascara and opened the little mirrored compact given to me for good luck by another Adamtopian. She asked for an explanation about a small jar where I kept my pink glitter . . .
There was fantasy; there was reality. And I do think there will be more to come. Queen and Adam have told us themselves: 'Don't stop me now! Don't stop me! I'm having a good time! I don't want to stop at all!' La La La La La!!!!!
Safe travels to all who will be in Leeds, Manchester, Germany, Italy, Paris and throughout Europe. I give you my love for Adam to carry with yours, in your hearts. I hope there's room!
