It's hilarious to me when people say Adam can't sing rock convincingly in the Queen catalog because when I was in high school there were plenty of guys who sneered at Queen as not being rock. The exact same criticisms that are hurled at Adam now by Queen fans were what I consistently heard being slung at Freddie. Queen were never fully accepted as a rock band so it doesn't bother me at all if some idiot wants to declare Adam can't sing rock. It says a lot more about them than it does Adam. I think calling someone an idiot because they have a different opinion than you is unnecessary. As for what their opinion says about them, well it says they have a different idea of what a rock voice sounds like. Freddie's voice was more gritty and "hard worn" whereas Adam's voice is crystal clear and pristine. Most "rock" singers sound like they smoke 2 packs a day and gargle with glass LOL. Also, keeping in mind, the opinion of Freddie as the best rock voice in history evolved after his death so the same people who thought he sucked then probably hold him up as the gold standard now. It's hard to compete against a ghost and that's why Adam doesn't try. |
