Wow! Adam really had to work hard to get Roger to the tempo he wanted! This is the first time I see such an overt effort with Queen! I guess they need to do TSMGO more often ! Interesting. And painful to watch. Spike was also playing the rhythm on the keys and would not be moved. Don't know if he was not watching or what. But Adam didn't get the tempo he wanted and finally gave up, I think. Living dangerously, performing live.
I don't hear much difference in the tempo between this song and the LA forum version? I also don't see Adam signaling Spike?

The divine, and the human. A beautiful rendition of TSMGO. Sometimes in the past I have thought that Adam is too bombastic throughout the whole song, instead of building to a climax. This time, his voice is lighter in the beginning, and it works beautifully. He gets to one of the climaxes of the song and, it sounds like at the last micro second, decides to do a run up to the F#5, which he hasn't done in a long time. Problem is, it was such a split second decision he didn't have in his mind exactly the notes he wanted to hit, and the run was a little sloppy. Something rarely heard from Adam. Then, on the very last phrase of "must go on!" he overpowers the high note and ........ I have listened multiple times to multiple recordings of the Paris performance to be sure........ his voice cracks on the word "must." Yes, the boy is human after all. You might want to bookmark this rendition of TSMGO just because Adam's voice cracking is such an extremely rare event. (Thank goodness, as it is painful to hear, and not good for the voice.) are you listening with special earphones or something? I don't hear a crack in his voice at all and I too have listened to multiple versions of this performance?

And the crack is not huge. It might have sounded to you just like he added some gruffness or rasp to the word "must." It just FELT like a crack when I first heard it, and I cringed a little. (As a singer, when I hear a voice crack, or a note that is flat or sharp, my throat automatically responds, trying to "fix" it. I can feel that in my throat as much as hear it, sometimes.)

Bose speakers are great. I wonder how many people notice these little cracks if they aren't pointed out, especially since you say it wasn't huge? You mentioned it and went back to listen and still didn't hear it; but then, I don't listen for cracks or imperfections and only notice it when the person singing is just really awful.

I've been thinking how I was initially bothered by the tweeter who said Adam was so gay. We were okay when we found out he was gay. Doesn't this show hidden homophobia on my part. I jumped to the conclusion that saying someone was gay was a dis. Shouldn't I have reacted the same way as if someone had said " He's so tall" or He's so Californian". It's not the same. "So gay" has been used as a dis for years when the subject at hand has nothing to do with being gay. As far as I know, "tall" means tall and "Californian" means from California. "So gay" can mean homosexual or loser or idiot or any number of derogatory terms. I thought the original tweeter was so rude to call the responder a name--as if everyone should know the tweeter is gay.

I think being a trained singer and musician I hear a lot of things that most other people do not. Not bragging, mind you. Everyone has their areas of expertise. Dancygeorgia, for example, sees all kinds of things in people's dancing and movement that I don't until she points it out and explains it. Sometimes even then I don't see it. She says, "No, that wasn't a rumba, it was actually a samba" or some such thing and I just nod and say "oh." And, is there really a difference between west coast swing and east coast swing? Sometimes it would be much more enjoyable NOT to hear little details which are minor imperfections in an overall successful performance. Or, with some singers, major imperfections, but the audience still is highly entertained and doesn't notice what I cannot help but cringe over. TBH, one of the many things I love about Adam is that he performs at such a high level of expertise that I can sit back and relax, knowing he won't make me cringe or squirm in my seat or fast forward thru something horrid. His performances are consistently excellent.... in every song, from concert to concert.

I think I need to join you behind that couch. I didn't hear a crack in Adam's voice because I didn't listen to the song. I don't like the way Adam sings TSMGO. I don't know how to explain what's wrong, but it makes me want to run out of the room before I realize I just need to find the off button. While I'm confessing, I don't like FYE either.

Spike starts the song and sets the tempo. I'm guessing Adam turned around trying to get the attention of the whole band since it wasn't working while he was facing forward.

cassie, have to admit I didn't hear the crack at first, but when I went back and listened there was a split second of sound that was not right, sort of screechy? And unpleasant? I don't know if cracking is easy to recover from, vocally, but it seemed he corrected or overcame it pretty quickly.
And that's what we are privileged to hear, a real voice. No auto-tune mic, no lip syncing. As you said, part of his wonderfulness is that it is real, and will be off sometimes. As Brian May so poignantly addressed in his video.
I don't know if this is true, but it seems to me he flubs the lyrics more often than he does his singing. And carries on after both like the seasoned professional he is.

I heard it and the little run problem too and I'm not a trained musician. It's also the song on which the one twitter dissenter in Paris who up to then had just been posting pictures added that he didn't like Adam's voice for rock. I have no idea if TSMGO is rock or not but I'll get behind the couch with a few others and say that it's not my favorite song either because of the way he has to attack some of those notes.
