Adam performed TOH today on Xtrafactor and sang mostly around the falsetto. The second chorus was full voice as some of us suggested he could do. See: Then after that he posted a snapchat which included this: twitter.com/NJLovinLambert/status/668584935666663424Almost looked to me like he was saying to us: See I can do the falsetto just fine. Don't worry! ILHSM!

I've been trying to bring Bamafan's post over from page 17 of the Nov 22/15 Daily Thread, but have failed! Definitely not a tech wiz. Anyhow, someone slowed down the chipmunk version and you can hear Adam's unadulterated voice, so I thought that belonged here. I just need help getting it here!
eta I see Q3 managed to put it on page 1 of the Nov 23 thread -- but she is a genius!

As usual, panda, You ask some very good questions. Some of them I have also asked Angelina, the opera singer. She promised she would address them in a blog about Adam's voice. Unfortunately, she's been too busy to do so yet. So I will give it a try below. Thanks, cassie. Appreciate your time and thoughts. When Jordan was in the blind auditions and the judges turned around, their shock seemed to be real. I think, as you referenced, they expected from the sound of his voice to see a female. So I totally get what you are saying, just didn't know how to quantify it with the proper terms. And this is what you do for me, cassie. I didn't know the words, but when you said, "His voice is lacking in the lower frequencies generally heard in an adult male voice, be it tenor or baritone," I knew exactly what you meant. It made for this interesting battle round: Jordan is not someone who gives me feels, at least not so far. I suspect you may be right, he may just be a novelty singer like Susan Boyle. But he is interesting. And I also would be curious about what his training has been. I think I remember once someone saying that Adam had a natural ability to sing high, but that he would have had to work on it to maintain it through puberty and the natural changes that occur with a male voice. I may have that a little skewed, but I do clearly remember the part about him having to work to maintain and develop his high range. And I assume that there is a limit to how much you can train a voice, that there are some inherent physical properties necessary for the outstanding voices.
The question of nature vs. nurture in a singing voice is the complex one. Whether a person is an alto or soprano, a baritone or a tenor, is determined by genetics. It has to do with the length and thickness of the vocal cords. Training and practice allow a singer to expand their range to a certain extent. But all the desire in the world will not change a baritone into a soprano.
Adam learned some techniques for singing high by working with his vocal coaches. Other techniques he has developed on his own through experimentation and trial and error. One cannot overestimate the time and effort and the dedication he has put into developing his voice.
With all that in mind, do you think that with the proper training and the desire to learn that Jordan could be an outstanding singer? Probably not a fair question, but I keep wondering how much of Adam's vocal talents are physical and spiritual and hard work, and how much are just genetic luck (like chest size, anatomy of the vocal cords, mouth and throat). So, relating this to Jordan, wondering if he has enough of either.
Ah, that is the question isn't it? If I can use an analogy, many people think that Michael Jordan is the best basketball player in history. Is that because he had the best coaching? Is it because Jordan worked harder than anyone else to basketball? Did he have the most passion? Without a doubt he would not have become the caliber of player he was without those things.
But many many other people have had the drive, determination, will and coaching similar to Jordan. In addition to all his many assets, Jordan must have had the perfect body to be a basketball player. The height, muscular structure, lung capacity, the eyesight, the eye/ hand coordination and myriad of other things.
Adam's amazing, beautiful, heavenly tone is not only the result of excellent coaching and diligent practice. There is something inherent in his body structure that produces a light yet rich, warm, resonant sound when the proper technique is employed. One only has to listen to many other highly trained professional singers to realize how extraordinary the sound of Adam's voice is. If Adam hadn't been so obsessed and dedicated with developing his voice, the perfect anatomy would not have resulted in an extraordinary sound. But, without the physiology, the best technique in the world would not produce such an extraordinary sound, either. In Adam, we see/hear the perfect storm.I thought again of what sweetness it would be to have Adam do the blind auditions. We know now that it is not just us, he has been lauded by so many in the industry. So I know those judges would be blown away by his voice when they couldn't see him, and then, when turning, be blown away again. I just can't believe anyone who professes a knowledge of singing could do anything but be in awe of his talent and skill.Sort of rambling here, cassie, hope you can follow this!I follow you, and totally agree. Hearing Adam's voice is life changing. It was for me.

Thanks, cassie! Again!
You said it all for me with this:
Yes, yes, yes, those are exactly the words for what I feel about his voice, and what his voice makes me feel. The looks are just a bonus GFG.

Here it is, rip it apart folks! Not shown but maybe someone can find the video of Adam Levine saying 'Go all Christine Aguilera on it' then ripping off our Adam's riff! Why couldn't he admit that it was Adam Lambert's riff that he was copying? www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQao9OnpmLU
