Cassie... how did you find Adam? Since you are not an Idol watcher did somebody bring him to your attention or did you know of him before Idol? Just curious...

GAWD... I FRIGGIN' LOVE WHO WANTS TO LIVE FOREVER!! Cassie, what's the highest note that Freddie hits in this song? Adam would have no problem with this, right? Piece of cake??? Chocolate cake with macadamia nuts, strawberries, and mocha ice cream on the side. The very highest note Freddie sings briefly is a D5. That is the same note that Adam held effortlessly at the end of Feeling Good live. Two steps below the high note he sang in Fever every night on tour. Five steps below the ringing highest notes of Crawl Thru Fire. He sang the D5 a bunch of times on TSMGO, and even higher on the final run of WATC. The only notes of Freddie's that Adam may not be able to sing are the very lowest notes in Freddie's range, as Freddie's voice was slightly deeper than Adam's. Not to worry. And, Adam would sound FANTASTIC on that song. I can imagine him singing it rather like Soaked, with almost an opera aria feel to it. Very emotional and powerful.

Cassie... how did you find Adam? Since you are not an Idol watcher did somebody bring him to your attention or did you know of him before Idol? Just curious... Actually, I was an Idol watcher back then. (Tho, AA, after Adam, I only lasted a couple of episodes into the next season and realized he had ruined Idol for me.) All the folks at the office were talking about it year after year, and wondering why as a singer and musician I wasn't tuning in. Finally, in self defense and to be able to participate in the weekly discussions, I tuned in the year that Melinda Doolittle was on. Loved her. Got really pissed when she was voted off. Vowed not to watch again, but was hooked. I vaguely watched the auditions because, like Adam, I found much of the broadcasts painful and felt too much empathy for the kids trying so hard and sounding so bad. Adam's audition came on, I was half way watching. Sang in musicals as a kid? Yeah, most of my music friends and I did, too. No biggie. Then, Paula says he was in the cast of "Wicked" and I thought, "Oh, this guy may be legit." Then, he sang, "Mama..." and my head snapped up. WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT? Yup, I am one of the group that Adam had at "mama." I discovered YT and listened to everything I could find. I didn't discover Adam fandom, tho', til probably some time after the AMAs. And, I keep falling further and further down this rabbit hole.

Thanks, cassie... I missed that BoRap audition but caught him on this.... and I was hooked. I don't know much about vocal analysis but I thought "Boy, this kid can sing!" What is the highest note he sang here, cassie , and is that a head voice? Thanks :D

Cassie... this is the musical guests of queen on July 7th. Not sure if the same people singing here becasue I think they have multiple artists rotating. What do you think of these couple's rendition of Who Wants To Live Forever? Note: I think they will be performing to give Adam some vocal rests and also to have an oppotunity for Adam to change his wardrobe... :D Leather for rock songs Suit for operatic songs ;D Casual for sing along songs JMO...I don't think Queen will bring in another solo vocalist because people would perceive it as competition between Adam and the other vocalist. So bringing in their WWRY cast can serve as Adam's relief and maybe will also serve as "chorus" group in some operatic songs which I would prefer just Adam. :D

Thanks, cassie... I missed that BoRap audition but caught him on this.... and I was hooked. I don't know much about vocal analysis but I thought "Boy, this kid can sing!" What is the highest note he sang here, cassie , and is that a head voice? Thanks :D Yup, the kid can sang! You don't have to know much about vocals to recognize it and thoroughly enjoy it. I think that those who know something about the voice, tho', may be even more impressed cuz we know how difficult it is to do what he is doing, and how rare such an ability is. The highest note here is a wailed out F5, and octave and a half above middle C. And, what I hear is a powerful full voice with some rasp added. It is not pure head voice. The head voice ring is there, but the chest voice is also incorporated. Now, here is the thing. A tenor voice range is usually quoted as being C3-C5. The tenor high C (C5) is the watermark for operatic tenors. You do that well, and consistently, without cracking or switching to a light head voice, and that is the mark of greatness. This YT demonstrates that operatic tenor high C, and talks about its importance. It also shows a tenor talking about the note, and singing it in a light head voice, so you can hear the difference. So, Adam has a tenor voice. Adam's lowest note that he sings regularly is the C3, tho' we have very occaionally heard him sing a step lower. But his highest full voice note?? Well, he sang an F#5 (4 whole steps above that coveted tenor high C) in Fever practically every night on tour. And, some say his G5s and A5s are also full voice. (at about 2:24 here) Some of the greatest tenors in the opera world would kill to have that note in their repertoire. Recently, in a couple of interviews when asked about those high notes, Adam has commented that when taking vocal lessons growing up he was told "this is your top note". Chances are they were referring to the tenor high C. "But I don't want that to be my top note." So, on his own, he experimented and found higher notes than a tenor is supposed to be able to hit. (And we are eternally grateful he didn't accept the limitations being laid upon him). Yes, he IS that AMAZEBALLS. ETA: As for that benchmark tenor high C, and the other high notes demonstrated on the video on tenors, above, Adam routinely incorporates those notes in almost every song he sings. They are almost throw-aways, not even worth thinking about. Angelina has said that she thinks Adam is going to change singing and what we think about it in a fundamental way. She may be right. A century ago, tenors didn't think they could hit the high C--- until someone did. Then, that became the standard for all tenors to aim for. Could Adam be game changing as well? Demonstrating that the old limits need not apply? Yes, it could happen.

I don't know what Adam will sing or how he will look. There are so many possibilities. But I think it will be phenomenal.

Cassie - At the moment I am hooked on Adam's Leno performance of BTIKM. His last two high notes seem to be the same pitch, but the second seems brighter somehow. Is that true or my imagination? What note is he singing? As beautiful as he is to watch, I really prefer to just listen to this - going, going, gone down the rabbit hole... BTW, I haven't been to Lambossed's site for a while. Love her comments, as well as her selection of performances. Scroll down to find the Leno perfomance. www.adamlambertobsession.blogspot.com/
