Okaaaayy… so am I the only one here who thinks that smoking pot is not necessarily all that cool? Sorry if I seem like a prude, but there are at least two reasons for this. First, smoking is not good for your voice. Adam tries to avoid excess coffee in order to protect his voice – he’s said this himself – so he should know that (any kind of) smoking isn’t any better. Secondly, there are enough examples of both private and public people who claim to be just “recreational users” and to have everything under control, when the truth is something else… So did George Michael, and last autumn he spent 4 weeks in jail after driving his car so stoned that he crashed it – and not for the first time. :  On a more personal note, I had a school friend who started smoking pot at age 15. After school she got involved with heavier stuff and finally ended up OD-ing and died. Yeah, yeah, I know – a classic, even a cliché story – but unfortunately it’s reality for me. So, sorry if I’m not all that enthusiastic about all this 420 stuff and pictures of Adam smoking… :( - Mia - You're not alone. I would prefer that Adam stay away from things that could (a) ruin his voice, and (b) get him arrested. I've always been pretty straightlaced when it comes to drug use. I'm well aware that many people are able to use pot recreationally and in moderation--no "Reefer Madness" paranoia here--but I would urge caution. It's easy to get caught up in dependence before you know it. I feel the same way about his drinking. I just want him to be careful and aware. #MajorBuzzkillHere I can imagine that picture of him taking off his boots at the airport showing up in one of those "Stars Are Just Like Us" features in Us Magazine. "Stars are just like us! They take off their shoes for airport security!" |

I have to agree with MIachihu. I also don't like sounding like a prude. Too much alcohol, coffee, smoking (tobacco, 420, or whatever), drugs will bring down the best of us. I know we all pray that Adam does not fall prey to any excesses that will keep him from reaching his full potential. , is the key phrase here. Even in the Amsterdam videos, he was blowing the smoke out. Really not the right way to do it! LOL! I'm not being a prude and saying Adam doesn't smoke marijuana occasionally. But I think he has his eye on the prize and is too smart to do "too much." Anyway, even if he is there isn't a damn thing I can do about it! miachihu, I am in favor of marijuana being legalized for the mere fact that alcohol is legal, and IMO, it does more damage. ITA with mys*&@^#r50 here. The Key word is Too Much!!!! and Alcohol does more damage. Also Pot is an organic drug, you can also bake with it. you dont always have to smoke it. I dont smoke pot or eat n e thing that is made with it, but i am around a tone of people that do, and by being around those people, ive learned alot and I am a firm believe it's not a bad drug. |

I know we all pray that Adam does not fall prey to any excesses that will keep him from reaching his full potential. The key words in this post are " Too Much" - as none of us know AFL personally, we have no idea if he indulges in any of these too much. The jokes/photos of the pot are no different in my mind than the party pictures featuring alcohol. From what I have read lately and a couple documentaries I have watched, pot is no more of a "gateway drug" than alcohol. Both can cause you to crash your car and kill yourself or others. Used in moderation, both seem to be reasonably safe. As far as AFL, we can hope that since he seems to have already gone through a stage of excess (per rolling stone intv) that he has already learned to indulge in moderation. |

I'm sure you are aware that we Finns are famous for our alcohol problems :( I think you hit the nail when you emphasized the "too much" issue. Unfortunately that really is the cause of most of the problems - people don't know or care about what is enough. I know that this is an issue that has caused a lot of debate and discussions, and will continue to do so in the future, so maybe I'll just leave it at this. Adam has already done the drugs, partying he know the pitfalls and I think is well past it. He also has a great family and friends to make sure he does not fall into the hole like others. |
