Getting a song released by Led Zeppelin is a big deeal. But don't underestimate Muse. In 20 years, I think they will still be around and will be remembered as a classic, huge, rock band. They are too new to have the Zepplin clout, but I think it will eventually happen for them. Adam pimps lots of music that I don't care for. I have nothing against Muse. I personally don't care for Matt Bellamy voice. Everybody has different taste in music.  |

Not exactly. Matt did not know who Adam was when his publishing company made the deal for Soaked with RCA A&R. In fact, he was unaware that Adam was making an album when interviewed on Aug 24, 2009 8:00am PDT by Lyndsey Parker. American Idol is looking silly pimping Durbin so much its a joke if you like him or not. So Muse likes Durbin good for Him. Adam is the only person Led Zeppelin has let sing their songs on AI. Muse vs Led Zeppelin = no contest. Matt Bellamy (MUSE) never said he liked James performance did he???? After the performance, Randy Jackson weighed in, telling everyone that Muse's Matt Bellamy sent James an email, giving him a push to sing the last chorus of Uprising an octave higher than is written. He wanted the AI contestant to do this for optimum effect. Perhaps I missed it. ETA: And James revealed he had heard from Matt Bellamy, the frontman of Muse, over his “Uprising” cover on Wednesday’s show. “Matt Bellamy from Muse said, ‘Wow! Great job’ and man, he was just really impressed. He loved my vision for it and I’m absolutely stoked,” James said. But what did Matt actually say?? |

Muse is a great band but if I had to guess probably the majority of the AI viewers aren't familiar with them as they aren't quite mainstream yet. I think L. Parker is a geek fan of Muse because I remember her reaction to Adam singing Starlight so the compliment, such that it was, from Matt was probably a bigger deal to her than 90% of the audience. I say good for James for the praise from Matt. I think he did a great job with the song myself. However, I'll take Adam's standing O from Smokey Robinson, Slash coming on the show specifically because of Adam and Simon's standing O anyday. Q3 there was a very vague reference to Matt emailing and telling James he did a good job. However, James seemed really uncomfortable to talk about it so I wonder what the story is there. |

Thanks so much for all the birthday wishes!!! Still recovering from my accident, back to work 1/2 time now, but still having a bit of a rough time! Thank goodness for Adam to take my mind off all these things!!!

Congratulations on your inevitable win. Do you have a crystal ball, play the lottery. I thought April was crazy when I picked it. What should the next contest be (You should pick since the odds are you will win)  Shall we choose the album release date? Album title? Cover theme? Date of next gate? Does it seem to anyone else that idol is using James to attempt to make Adam less special? I understand why they would want to dull his legacy. Idol gave us Adam, but he also destroyed it for me. I didn't know if I was so far in the bubble to feel this way.

I think people here are just a wee bit protective of Adam and seem to think that anyone compared to him is a threat to his "legacy" on idol. Durbin will not make top 3 (that's my prediction) and then everyone can stop wringing their hands about comparisons and he can go off and front the hair band revival show in Atlantic City that is his destiny. I could care less if Bellamy thinks Durbin is all that and a cherry on top - people are entitled to their opinions so fine. For me (for you) neither of them can hold a candle to Adam's vocals. That's all.
