Queen drummer Roger Taylor is fighting to keep a statue of late frontman Freddie Mercury outside his home after local officials ruled the imposing figure breaks planning laws.
The percussionist erected the statue in the garden of his house in Surrey, England after it was removed from outside London's Dominion Theatre when Queen musical We Will Rock You closed last year (2014).
He has now applied for permission to keep the monument after local officials objected due to strict rules governing historic houses in conservation areas.
Taylor's neighbours have until next month (March 15) to voice their opposition before a ruling is made, according to Britain's The Sun newspaper.

I think Adam is the first Idol to appear on the cover of any major Rock Magazine at all. I believe Clay got a Rolling Stone cover back in 2003. Yeah, but was he also on Bravo in Rumania? j/k And are teen publications battling for the right to be the #1 interview for his new single? And are willing to make stuff up out of thin air, if they happen to not be granted that slot? Did not think so. I think that Clay had a few covers, including the one you mention, and People magazine and Entertainment magazine, and so did Daughtry (Billboard, Guitar Edge). But there is no question that Adam leads if you look at world wide. And that was before Queen and before England woke up out of its slumber. I firmly believe that it is just a question of years before Adam has the idol throne firmly in his hands. I don't think he will be no 1, if you look at US only, because I believe Carrie will remain strong. But Carrie cannot compete globally, Adam will win that, and 2015 will foreshadow that for the first time, even for the US centric audience, because there will be numbers to look at. It will be a fun day, when that happens. Many who do not follow Adam and have no idea how successful he has been, will wake up a little. And there will be many years to come for Adam after that. Era 3 has begun! |

But I don't think of RS as a "rock magazine". Rolling Stone goes so far beyond music -- Rolling Stone covers music, politics, tv, movies and culture. Here is the RS 2015 editorial calender...  They do not even have a rock issue anymore and Dec 18 is the POP CULTURE AWARDS. There are magazines dedicated to rock music....although very few left. There are paid circulation magazines dedicated to music -- Billboard, Classic Rock, Mojo, Q, NME (New Musical Express), Kerrang! and Metal Hammer etc. ETA: And RS was not a rock magazine in 2003 either. Hasn't been for well over a decade. ETA #2: I think the Classic Rock cover is Adam's first ROCK MAGAZINE cover. |

I do hope, that Adam gets such promotion opportunities, like today, in the US too.
UK market is important, but not the only one.
Hope, his management has lined that up for him, once he gets back.
Of course, this is a UK centric week, it all makes sense, I am just impatient, I guess, and probably under-appreciate Notion magazine.
Me needs to broaden horizons.

OT but too funny not to comment on. Roger and Brian could afford 100 golden Freddie statues each but they both want this one! Ben Elton, writer of the Queen musical, told the Radio Times in response to a question about where the Fred statue went: “It’s in Roger Taylor’s garden, which I believe Brian May is not happy with.” Maybe it should go to some museum? I would love it to go to the Rock Hall of Fame in Cleveland! |

just started playing with the ap Shazam and it is really bad ass. On the phone ap you can press listen and it will identify what music is playing. Cool... came back with YouTube locations, video location and lyrics. (WWFM) Been waiting for what it would take to support TOH! But could not do Crawl Thru Fire
