I'm going to make one more prediction for TOH. Q3 guessed (randomly) April 6th for the single's release. I think that may be too early. I'm going to predict that Top 4 week of American Idol (should air sometime in April) will feature an exciting twist. Adam Lambert will be brought back as one of 4 judges and the contestants will perform their usual solos...then the show will take on a twist and the contestants will be asked to perform a duet with one of the judges! Since there are no longer results shows (or are there?) Adam will close the show (solo) by performing the world-wide premier of his new single! Of course, Jennifer may get a little miffed at all of the attention that Adam will receive that night...but who cares...Adam will be the STAR! Just a guess. Personally, I think it's a smashing idea! I picked an early date because it was a bit of a wish and a prayer!  *** I like your smashing idea -- but I think wherever this single is debuted the live TV performance will follow the single release and probably be after the social media and streaming campaign is kicked off. A traditional lead single schedule might look something like this..... Day 1 - 3 They will tease it with a clip. Day 4 - 5 They will stream it for 2-3 days. Day 6 They will release it for sale. Maybe a week later -- They will have Adam perform it live. That will take about them to about 2 or 3 weeks. What is big in April - early May? April 12, 2015: MTV's 2015 Movie Awards Sunday, April 12 -- but unless it is in a movie seems like a stretch. April 14, 2015: Idol final -- there does not appear to be a finale this year ?!?! I do not understand this schedule but it ends on April 14th. May 7, 2015: The Voice Finale **** I do not think that this will be a "traditional" release schedule. My guess is something more like what Taylor Swift & Co. did for 1989. Social media teases, live worldwide stream and video stream of a performance in conjunction with iHeartRadio or Yahoo!, single released to radio and for sale, follow-up single, album released in late June 2015. |

I can't find the TV schedule online for Idol. April 14th seems really early/strange doesn't it? Doesn't it usually run an add'l month? I had just assumed that Adam would sing his new single on Idol....but on or before April 14th.....that doesn't seem likely.
Maybe PattiHum can weigh in since she knows Idol.

Does Idol go on the road at this stage? The reason I ask is that my friend just saw two tapings in Detroit the other day. Not sure exactly what that entails but thought it was unusual, since I don't think they're like the Voice, which may tape two seasons simultaneously. |
