I have posted this elsewhere as didn't know this place existed, I hope it is ok to also post here as a first posting :-)
The notes of a crazy Fan girl who for one night had the most amazing experience in West London My descent into the madness of the glittery glamorous Glambert World
I know exactly the moment it started, New Years Eve 2014 at 1120pm to be precise, after goodness knows how many glasses of Bucks Fizz I was looking forward to saying goodbye to 2014 and allowing 2015 to come in with a bang (sadly not literally ;-) ) little did I know that in less than 2 months my life would be turned upside down, an evangelical zeal would inhabit my very being and that this former soldier and Aviation professional of a few years standing would lose all sense of perspective and find myself fan girling away to such an extent that everything I said and did would find it relating back to this one man. Here I was at last in this temple of adoration, Wembley Arena, surrounded by thousands, chanting, clapping and stomping our feet in unison all wrapped around the very fingers of this one man who had mesmerised me on New Years Eve. Brian May had just asked the question "what do you think of the new guy?" the stadium erupted with cheers, screams, yells and never before had I heard foot stamping across the stadium on such a scale something sadly not picked up on the YouTube videos, it didn't stop it went on and on, everyone loving Adam Lambert the object of my new fandom and I couldn't have been happier. I was late booking my ticket so was pleased with my seat, although no close up views and a large speaker in the way of the video feed within the Q but who cared I could still see QAL well particularly on the second stage, neither of the 2 sets of couples around me knew of Adam Lambert they were there for Queen, as were so many of those around us so my Bat Shit Crazy screams, oh yes I screamed and shouted out how much I loved him and me the wrong side of 40, were obvious at first but quickly that changed before too long everyone around was screaming and shouting and cheering for Adam. The show build up was immense, the sound throbbing through the speakers prior to curtain up sounded like the loudest military jet on full afterburner and then that was it the curtain was up and Adam in his leathers reminiscent of Judas Priest was strutting and preening across the stage taking control of the audience as he was born to do with slick and solid performances: One Vision followed by Stone Cold Crazy and Another one Bites the Dust, then we fine ladies with our wider than usual arses revelled in being Adams Fat Arsed Bitches as he roared out Fat Bottomed Girls and thrust his pelvis for all it's worth at the audience and I was in lust heaven.
A change of costume, bell bottomed trousers and the most amazing leather frilled sleeves and we were treated to a theatrical performance of Lap of The Gods (oh how I love his rendition), Severn Seas of Rhye and the campest and most entertaining of performances of Killer Queen going, what other man could get away with lying back on a Chaise whilst fanning himself with a gold coloured fan. "Lady did I get you wet" oh yes Mr Lambert you surely did just not with Champagne! A fitting tribute to his colleagues and to Freddie Mercury, enough without going over the top but beautifully received by the original Queen Fans and we were into the Fan Favourite of I want to Break Free, what I would give at this moment to see Adam and the rest of the band in drag as per the original video then an fantastic rendition of Don't Stop me now. Then a moment of chat to the audience by Adam, him asking us to find someone to love, he is lonely on tour so he tells us, something maybe not clear on any videos at this point is the chord played by Brian as Adam tells us he is not in love, a real comedic moment along with the positioning of Adams Microphone in the Glam Bulge vicinity, laughter abounds throughout the arena and then we are truly taken to church as Adam belts it out yet again with that amazing voice as he sings somebody to love and removes his sleeves to display his amazing physique and plays the audience for all it's worth and we soak up every moment. The concert changes at this point with Adam disappearing and Brian, Roger, Rufus, Spike and Neil taking the stage for a more gentle pace with a tribute to Freddie by Brian singing love of my life. Brian chats to the audience, you know full well they pay similar tributes to the audience at every gig but he manages to make it personal and knowing the place Wembley played in Queens History you felt every word genuine and then with the Selfie Stick moment you know and feel the genuine warmth emanating from both sides across this large stadium. The drum off between the Taylor men is a wonder to hear and warmly received as are all in the so called Intermission pause, it is said in a number of reviews at other of their concerts that many took a refreshment break at this point but I saw none of that with everyone soaking up every contribution however without a doubt the moment Adam reappeared the tempo and the atmosphere in the Stadium rose dramatically, he had everyone enthralled and in his hand. Under Pressure a huge crowd favourite reintroduced Adam to the show and to have the three of the them Adam, Bryan and Roger on the second stage all at once was a massive bonus to me as I could see them so much the better and the knowledge that the truly beautiful Save Me and Who Wants to live forever were following. How much more beautiful and soulful both of those songs sound in the flesh than on video and what an amazing vocal range, I had to pinch myself that these were sung live, not produced in a studio with the sheer quality and beauty of sound. During WWTLF when Adam is on the second stage and reaches forward and puts his fingertips into the light it dazzles the audience as if he were wearing the most enormous diamond and is a truly magical moment and one wonders how anyone could ever sing that song as good as it was sung at that moment, breath taking..
Brian May then captivates the audience with a solo performance and makes that guitar sing like no other I know, a rapture encompasses us all
Oh my joy that Adam reappeared then in those gorgeous red Tartan trousers has anyone ever looked so good as he did right then, I'm sure the lady beside me thought I was one sandwich short of a picnic as I cooed over him in the attire but I felt my life complete at that moment as he oozed sex appeal across that stage and went into full rock god mode singing Tie Your Mother down, alone around me I knew my moment was almost here when I could sing with Adam as he wanted us to share all our love tonight.
There was a reticence at first amongst the audience unsure I think that this was a call and response session but that was soon put right and we erupted in gusto in song. My own section he had them put the spotlight on and I think I waved as only a Fan girl could towards Adam as his eyes looked directly up to the part of the stadium I was in, I don't care if he wasn't setting his eyes upon me it felt like he was and that my friends is all that is important. His getting the men to sing into their balls and us ladies into our Tits was hilarious, is Tits a peculiarly British expression or is worldwide across the English speaking world I wonder?
With the audience now purring with delight at everything and anything Adam did we were blessed with Dragon Attack, I'm now getting lost for superlatives as this Rock Chick did her very best to rock with him, the audience were now up on their feet swaying and stamping and singing as I want it all sounded from the band could there be any more that we could give back to this amazing performance well hell yes there was as I want it all was replaced by Radio Gaga. Was there a soul in the audience left seated, I very much doubt it and with a religious fervour we sang and clapped in unison, I turned away from the stage for a moment wishing to drink in this auditorium filled to the gunnels with people in perfect harmony could this get any better?
Well this is Queen + Adam Lambert so with the audience Bat Shit Crazy we got a wonderful entertaining Crazy Little Thing Called Love. What you see on stage which again you often miss on the videos are the little movements such as the hair slicking and the twerk to the audience, the skipping across the stage, which you may see on TV but looks so much funnier and sweet live, this is a man who knows how to fill the stage and his fellow bandmates love him for it, they are all having the time of their lives up there.
A change of tempo to the Show Must go on, a personal favourite, yet again this amazing voice of an angel takes you to a place you didn't think live singing could take you. We all knew the show was drawing to a close but we didn't want it to stop. The cheer as the opening chords of Bohemian Rhapsody were played and what a fitting tribute to Freddie and Queen but I would one day love to hear Adam sing it all the way through, the audience were on their feet cheering Adam on, yells shouts, yet more feet stomping we wanted them back on stage we didn't want it to ever stop and then out they all reappeared to we will rock you with a be-crowned Adam glistening under all those gemstones and lights, ladies we won't need any Brasso to clean it (A private joke between friends ;-) )
And finally We are the Champions and oh yes they were, they had won everyone hands down, the amazing guitar playing skills of Brian, he makes that guitar sing, the drumming of Roger, is there a better drummer out there? well there is one waiting in the wings and he is called Rufus Taylor, the wonderful Spike, the 5th member of Queen as he is so often described and the unassuming Neil on Bass, but the King of the night, the champion, the man who had won over everyone was unequivocally Adam Lambert. Any doubters at the beginning of the night were no longer doubting, the biggest cheer of the whole performance was for Adam.
Rock legends another has joined your club and he should be there for a very long time, Brian refers to Adam as a Gift From God and after seeing him perform live he is spot on. All those years ago when Adam was at Burning Man and asked from the ether for his day to come someone was listening and his day has most surely arrived. Can this be the end of QAL? I hope not, Adam has a new Album out this year and all that entails but can this band now give up what they have. It is hard for us fans to know it is almost over but it must be so much more difficult for them. Well I am hooked, he has my heart and soul and I cannot wait for the next time I see him live, this fangirl maybe old enough to know better but doesn't care one bit Adam Lambert you are a global superstar and long may that star be in the ascendant Video's of the show

How to get help on ATOPBTW - if y'all get stuck trying to find your way around, most ATOP members hang out in the Daily News thread (or threads on concerts days). Come over there if you need help with anything and someone will be able to walk you through issues. Easiest way to get there from here is to click "Home" and then "Daily News & Information". The latest threads are at the top (with the orange flames); best to ignore the sub-threads at the top. Today, for example, the majority of peeps will be in one of the 2.27.15 threads. Enjoy! -HSM
