Just finished reading last night's thread.
Sounds like a great time was had by all.
I'm so sorry I missed it, but had an amazing time at Prince. I can't even wrap my brain around when Adam plays venues of that size. (18K for concerts it looks like). And the production ("floating screens" were extremely futuristic and made it so us up in the rafters could see up close, as he was but a speck on the stage.)
Anyway, when I went to pick of my friend, who I've never discussed Adam with before, but she has a son named ... you guessed it.
Of course, I had GNL CD in my car and as she got in, she said, OMG!!! Is this Adam Lambert? I LOVE him!!
Me: OMG! Really? (Heh ...)
She continued to squee and say how amazing his voice is and how he feels the emotion in every note and how she loves listening to IIHY on treadmill. Then she said, "If he's ever in concert let me know."
Of course, I said, "Yes! Are you kidding me?" (And it still amazes me how so many people don't now these things unless they follow online.) She had no clue. I assured her, I definitely would and I had seen him MANY times.
Well, later over dinner, she was talking to me about her son (13), who is beautiful, talented, creative and definitely follows to the beat of his own drummer. She has worried for him because he attends a very cliquish, somewhat conservative private school and he has been ostracized and bullied (though the administration doesn't "categorize" it as such. WTF? : :
She was really conflicted about how to best encourage, empower and protect her son, not just from people who might not appreciate his differences, but also from the struggles he was likely to encounter if he chooses to pursue an artistic career.
I told her the story of Leila and how she supported Adam (as told in E!THS and RS stories) as the mother of not only a unique, artistic child, but one who she knew early on was gay. She seemed very encouraged by that (not that she indicated any similar suspicions), but she did think the story beautiful. I will definitely send her Acoustic Live and have her listen closely to AM and also, WTH! I'll send her GNL
I am going to need a new copy, mine has been skipping a little.
