There's a certain craft and subtlety to being honest and an "open book." I think Adam has learned it well. One can make an honest statement that doesn't answer the question. For example, "So are you gonna keep the goatee?? Please say YES!!

One can answer a question but not answer the spirit of the question:
"Have you ever done anything really embarrassing while ~under the influence?
Adam Lambert: @juliaxxrawr yeah. Haven't you? Lol" (the obvious point of the question was to get him to tell what he had done)
One can answer the literal question and dodge the intended question:
"@adamlambert have u ever slept with a women ?
Adam Lambert :yup"
One can use a question to springboard into a statement one wants to make:
@adamlambert do you ever feel insulted when interviewers are surprised by your intelligence & eloquence?

One can give an answer that emphasizes the positive while keeping any negative thoughts to oneself.

One can make a statement that on the surface seems to say something innocuous, but, can be interpreted to make a deeper, more targeted point:

Adam impresses me with not only his honesty, but his ability to control the interview in order to make his points in his way, while showing respect for all. He claims not to have a filter, but, that is BS. He is as talented in this area as many others.

I know that this topic is long past, but just had to check out Someone Like You by Adele, was listening to the Live version from the Brit awards, is so moving, felt chills and teared up, so heartfelt.
