O yes, I remembered that Adam's sense of rhythm was talked about before, page 2 of this thread, near the end of the page. And it's mainly about another WLL (Costa Mesa 2). I was so absorbed in reading through this thread that I forgot all about it. Maybe I'll reread the whole thing now, I might have missed more

This is a question for TALON re: Queen
I was listening to yT queens songs featuring MARC MATEL. Comments are such that Marc really shld be Freddie as he sounds similar in vocals as well as looks. Again, as listening to a few YT's and I did notice similarities as far as vocals as well as movements of Freddie. ALthough I saw no showmanship from Marc and his voice lesser in tone
BUT you are a hugh fan of Queen so I wanted to get your opinion...Marc or Adam to carry on the Queen legacy????? or does it matter to the loyal queen fan.?
I thought Marc was trying to imitate Freddie whereas I see Adam just interpreting Freddie's songs as opposed to imitation. What do the Queen fans prefer????

Sorry I didn't get to this - I've been off a few days :D And watching my Red Sox win the World Series! BUT better late than never. That's a VERY difficult question - and one you will probably get different answers for from different people... I saw AL on his own and I saw Queen Extravaganza...and I think sometimes AL fans sell Marc a bit short but that's a different argument. The truth is that MOST Queen fans I know and communicate with would rather have neither. There is a sizable bit of the fanbase who would prefer Marc as he sounds very close to Freddie. Just as sizable are against that for that very reason and think he's perfect for the Tribute show but wouldn't want to see him in Queen. There is also a slice of the fanbase that does appreciate Adam in that he can pull off most of the songs without copying Freddie. But most would rather a. Brian and Roger perform on their own. or b. Get someone who is more their contemporary and who has made their own success. I think most Queen fans would be okay with someone like a Matt Bellamy. Someone who ISN'T a current "pop star" (on Top 40 today) or someone who rose to fame through a talent contest which goes against the spirit of those 60s-70s artists that grew and developed....Now I'm not starting that argument realize - just repeating it. I understand that today is a different world and artists aren't allowed that same time and leeway and often talent shows are one of the few paths to getting heard -- I don't like it but I don't blame the artists. Now as to me? I'm one that if I had my ultimate wish, it would be to see John come back and Brian, Roger, and John do a new album and tour with Brian and Roger sharing vocals. BUT I know that ain't happening. As a choice between Adam and Marc? I would choose Adam. I LOVED Marc and think he's great in the QEX and would listen to him on his own for sure....I just think it would be weird having him in Queen. I also wouldn't mind seeing someone like Matt Bellamy for a one off though BUT I'm very satisfied with Adam...It's a good match both sonically and in chemistry....and it brought me here

So what does everyone think of the return of FYE-era Adam on Marry the Night The return of FYE-era Adam . Hadn't thought of it like that, but yeah, you're right. That's what it sounds like. Funny thing is, I think it is Adam singing as Starchild here. In the clothes and make-up he is over the top, so he chooses to do that in his singing as well. But then he does a genius balancing act, to make sure that it is not too much, so that people will still like it. (I sure do!!) What do you think? Am i making any sense? Another question: it almost seems like Adam does a Pick U Up kind of 'trick', but now for real by barely breathing during an impossibly long time. It starts when at 2.12 to 2.26 he just has time to sneak in some small breaths, and just when I'd think there should be a great big breath coming, I don't hear any until 2.35 and no real time to breathe in the music until 2.41. Do I hear this right? Is this indeed as devilishly hard as I think it is? Or am I easily impressed or just a tiny bit biased? You know, he might sing this one live one day... Until then, this one is pretty good too:

OTT is my fave tho Not just in notes and phrasing but in attitude Well I definitely hear him take some small breaths in that section yeah, but that's all Adam needs cause he has lungs like a truck and super technique. I remember reading something about a "micro-breath" that singers train up which is basically a quick breath like a gasp of surprise, except with the diaphragm and not the chest. Pick U Up is just impossible for anyone though. (Vid is blocked in my country :( )

I really like Gaga, and was blown away by this acoustic version of Marry the Night. (Nationalglampoon: it is a youtube of Gaga singing MTN acoustic live on Alan Carr. I have inserted another version of this vid above, maybe now you can see it?)
