After Hurricane Wilma, Florida enacted law that all major gas stations have back up generators because no accessible gas was one of worst problems. Fort Lauderdale had no street lights, glass blown out of high rises, including one where I worked, etc. I had no power for 16 days, lots of people in the same boat. I went to huge church and it was hilarious to have our pastor sounding like an autioneer from the pulpit (looking at 4000 people at every service) saying that after service all the people who had gotten electricty back and had generators they could loan out should go to a certain location and those looking for generators should go and brow beat them into giving it to them. I loved it! Then he said, "I don't even know who I gave mine to." A meek voice piped up from the middle of the church, "That would be me, Pastor Bob." As inconvenient as everything was, and as horrible for some, people did come together. Our church put on 900 "blue roofs," tarps to the uninitiated, for free. There were 1 -2 mile lines to get into gas stations that did have power. My brother-in-law was a pilot, so we crept into one of the smaller airports and added a little airplane fuel. You could only do that if you had at least a 1/2 tank of gas, otherwise your engine would blow up from the 100 octane. All in all, terrible tragedy for those who lost homes, but you really see steps up in those situations. A few survival tips - some of these I've always tried to adhere to: 1. NEVER let your gas tank go below half full. If I hadn't had as much gas in my tank as I did, I'd still be sitting in the dark in Huntsville with the radio batteries probably already dead. See #2. 2. Keep a radio that can run on batteries and make sure you have LOTS of extra batteries. 3. Always have one regular phone with a cord for your land line - the wireless phones don't work when the power is out. Just go to Target and get a $10 little princess phone. My cell didn't work either. 4. Be sure you have a car charger for your cell. I did. A lady in the restroom in a truck stop in Tennessee today was charging her cell in the rest room. Bless her heart. Her husband was standing outside the restroom door and was not a happy camper. 5. Keep bottled water on hand. I didn't have any but really didn't need any for the short time I was there without power (I did have lots of Coke on ice  ). They're telling people in Huntsville to conserve water becasue the water treatment plant can't run without power and will probably be out of clean water before Browns Ferry is fixed. 5. Keep cash on hand at all times. ATM's do not work without power. Luckily, I had an extra $200 in the hidden pocket in my purse. Thanks needacoke. Great advice. I'm glad your are okay and have a place to stay during the power outage. I was without power for 14 days after Hurrican Ike. Also, add have extra batteries and flashlights available. For those of us in the South, hurricane season is coming up, so be prepared. It just about time to stock up your hurricane emergency kits.

Best tweet "I would not kick that gorgeous, magical sword fighter/bullfighter Colombian coffee man out of bed unless it was to f*ck on the floor."

Childish and sad; takes so much energy to hate but asking others to hate b/c you do?? REALLY sad. Ok - I'll admit I'm a bit out of it today, but WHO is this from?? Durbin himself or some fan twat? I'll say that if its actually from Durbin, if I was an AI producer I would want this to go away ASAP....

The Surreal World of ASCAP's Pop Awards: Where Adam Lambert and Ke$ha Honor the Guys Who Made Them Famous (and Train is the Best Rock Band) And for every spaced-out, Spears-like pop puppet, there's an Adam Lambert, Perry and badass Pink (who are very involved in the creative process), retaining an edge even while backed by the corporate marketing machine. Luke and Martin seem to only enhance what unique artists like these three already bring to the table. blogs.laweekly.com/westcoastsound/2011/04/ascap_pop_awards_dr_luke_adam.php

It's from a fan run twitter not Durbin personally but he follows that account and will see that tweet and IMO should say something about it.
