Cassie? Help? Don't understand the terms. Although isn't "overdrive" what Meatloaf called Adam's voice? eta: ok help yourself GD! term I can't find definition for "Close" For someone, me, who cannot even carry a tune, not even happy birthday this is fascinating. I can't even imagine what you must "hear" when Adam sings. Love this site as I learn so much. Great video. Grandduchesspf, i went loking for terms too! This link is interesting, en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Complete_Vocal_TechniqueIt may tide us over until Cassie can properly school us. :-)

They refer to styles of rock and pop singing, aqnd I studied more traditional clasic techniques. Nationaglampoon would probably be the person to explain all this. GLAMPOON!!!!! CALLING GLAMPOON! Try this article. completevocalinstitute.com/vocal-technique/cvt-explained/four-vocal-modes/I think "close" = "curbing", "head voice" = "neutral", and in the case of "pharyngeal" I think it's neutral but twanged with some distortion.

10 days. Time is flying. I'm getting nervous my question all this flailing from radio.... Is it WB promo push OR do these stations seriously love GT??????? Sometimes I think it's too good to be true 'cause the tweets are crazy good. Just my nervous momma side as so much is riding w this single I don't see anything to be nervous about. Everything looks like it is on track and great. Anyway, what is the worst that can happen? If "Ghost Train" is not a hit, they will just pick and promote another single. *** All I want is some new Adam music to listen to and some committed fans to flail with. Adam already has a ton of money and respect. A big hit would be great but he's already a star. *** Regarding the radio personalities flailing, these are stations/people that do not just tweet stuff like this to make a label happy. If they did not like the song, they would post -- "just heard Adam's new single, you'll get to hear it on the 20th" Not -- "WOW just heard Adam's new single and it is massive!"

It can be really confusing because they try to keep behind the scenes. Shoshanna is pretty public for a PR person -- we occasionally see her with Adam. In my experience, many of the best PR people are a bit shy and literally hide from the camera. Even Shoshanna seems to really prefer not to be photographed.
Uh.. did you remember Adam's first PR person? That guy working for Simon Fuller Management company. He's always with Adam for all Adam's public appearance and he's not shy of camera at all. Shoshanna rarely accompany Adam, unless he's in London. Anything in US, Adam's usually have one of DMG Manager with him.
Do you mean Roger Widynowski? He was often with Adam and worked for 19 Management but was not his PR person. The only other person I remember regularly seeing was Lane Newland-Watson, his original "Music Manager" AKA his PA. >> As far as I know, 19 Entertainment left PR up to Sony and to the managers. That is why the PR for the artists signed to 19 was not very well run. I do not ever recall seeing any PR people or any PR from 19 when they had Adam -- all the PR logistics seemed to be handled by RCA on behalf of 19 or by Adam directly. Simon Fuller officially managed the PR for their artists but he did not seem to do much for Adam. I am certain that the UK PR was handled by Sony UK for the FYE era -- that is when Adam and Shoshanna first worked together. >> IT IS A LONG TIME AGO, I AM REALLY TIRED, PERHAPS I AM FORGETTING SOME PR GUY. If I am mistaken, chalk it up to fatigue.

If folk haven't read these articles yet, they're very good. Yes, they're more on the technical side than the fandom side, but provide wealth of information on the engineering requirements of pulling off a tour. Some of the biggest insight have been on the "MONITORS" section (page 8 of the article). I'm reprinting some of my favorite parts below. Please forgive any typos. Since the pages are provided as images, I had to type out versus copy/paste. Bolding and underlines are mine. *** ...Sitting between James and Gurton, we find Gary Stokes, who handles the monitors for Lambert, which he openly admits is a challenge, albeit a rewarding one. “A lot of musicians like to have a static mix that stays the same all night so they can play off that, but that doesn’t suit Adam because he has such a wide dynamic range and a wide pitch range.” Says Stokes....”When he is up in the high register there is a ton of power with unusual types of high mid, which I have to compress a little. I’m mainly a FOH guy, so normally I’m very sensitive about adding too much compression on monitors. Adam is on the mic most of the time and for him it’s more a matter of tonal shift. When he is up in the higher register it has a lot of bite, which he wants you to soften. When he goes to the lower register, which for him is very deep and expressive, he wants you to take some low mids away. That may change from night to night and it’s definitely not something you can snap shot, which is why the mix is done totally live. We may end up having to adjust the tone for each line of a song every night.
What’s very clear about this tour is that it has a definite 70’s cound and feel to it. There are more wedges onstage than we have seen in years, despite most of the band using in-ears. For Stokes this presents another nightly challenge regarding bleed into Adam’s mix. “A lot of people think that when you use in-ears it isolates the sound, but it doesn’t. With a combination of wedges and in-ears, coupled with Adam moving all over the stage, there is a certain level of bleed that’s going to gt through. I feel as though in-ears block out about 20 dB of high frequencies, and when you go down to lower frequencies they don’t block out anything. So realistically you are dealing with a large sound onstage, and with Queen it’s a lot louder than the stuff Adam does on his own, so that amount of bleed is significant. The challenge is how to set the in-ear level so that it makes sense. A lot of rock bands will turn their in-ears up, so that dominates the stage sound and it’s not an issue, but Adam has very sensitive hearing and he doesn't like that kind of volume. …..Above all, Adam likes to hear a mix that excites him. I think it’s more of an emotional type of thing.”.*** <grins> And now we know why Adam seems to go through sound techs faster than he changes outfits. Glad to know he finally found Gary who "groks" him.

I did not check out these scans....but it is ALSO a FREE DOWNLOAD although you do have to use your iTunes code. I started reading the article and it is is actually .....really very interesting, and some parts relate right back to Brian, Roger and Adam. WHY NOT let the magazine writers know how many are enjoying the read by itunes tracking versus reading scans of it. Kinda like linking to the media who write articles....giving credit. Or do both....with the download it stays on your bookshelf. ....maybe this imageban is like itunes?...I do not know the product...but ....the word scans was my trigger. Just to add to stampsgal's comment, as an added incentive to get the free iTunes download of the Load-In Magazine, there are 3 videos embedded in the article: - 8 minutes of interview footage w/Brian, Roger and Adam from the press conference prior to the European tour - the Premier Guitar interview with Pete Maladrone and Brian - the funny BTS video from the crew I know that we have seen all three already, but now you can have a copy of your very own!
Can you please tell me how to download it? I clicked on the link posted few pages before but I don't see any sign up link.

I know very little about this - we have so few radio stations compared to the US - but what are the main US radio stations for Adam to be played by and are these the ones that are already indicating they are on board? Which should we look out for? Q3 can answer far better than I, but I would make the presumption that if Adam gets his song played in the top 10 radio markets, he's pretty golden! Those would be: 1 New York, NY - specifically Z-100 2 Los Angeles, CA - specifically KIIS 3 Chicago, IL 4 Philadelphia, PA 5 Dallas-Ft. Worth, TX 6 San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose, CA 7 Boston (Manchester), MA-NH 8 Washington (Hagerstown), DC-MD 9 Atlanta, GA 10 Houston, TX Thanks, Hoppers. He's golden anyway! Roll on 21st - or 20th or whatever.....

So weekend project for us is creating the definitive list/database of radio tweeters that have tweeted about hearing #GhostTown and tie them to city, station, holding company, dj hours, POP/HAC/Modern etc. I was thinking they might have all been iHeart but the 4/20 guy was with a Hubbard station.
I'm wondering if they've set a time frame say 2-4 PM ET and are working with holding companies to put it on during that time. PR wise they can be saving the "playing for the first time" news since it will bring another round of coverage. Like next week announce that it will be played on the 20th and then a few days later giving the time.
A note on the guy with Adam on the green background this morning. He was advertising a week ago on twitter and just three days ago on instagram for a Production Assistant for a 4 day shoot, I just going to assume that was for Adam because the Instagram was saying immediate. I'm thinking two things. That a production assistant doesn't have to know a lot and that wow, WBM has money to burn on the video in different locations.

Think I remember FYE and certainly IIHY and BTIKM as being one day (or night).....even if that's wrong, four days sounds like it could be much more involved....
