According to the Lambrits, David Beckham is wearing his OBE medal on the wrong side, maybe they should have have invited someone with real fashion sense...  Oh, the glambulge. You have to stop doing this to me first thing in the morning. I just turn to goo everytime I am confronted with pictures like this. |

[ Skylar, I'll add my two cents just b/c I think it's not just a question of Adam's right to say what he likes, but of taking the time and effort to give a good, potentially helpful response. IMO The people throwing the kids under the bus for personal comfort/gain are the producer/judges on Idol who don't care about their long-term prospects, just ratings until May - and then a profitable tour - period. (S8 was my first and only Idol experience, but I was there in New Hampshire for the last concert and the day after. Wow, the extent to which these guys were suddenly on their own was shocking. "Here's your plane ticket, find your way to the airport, later.") That's my late night book - sorry  mika... your entire post was srsly AWESOME!! I'm not quoting the entire thing... Thanks Seoulmate and MyS*&@^#r50. Could be a pissed off Durban fan. Adam so rarely says harsh things about anyone. I'll bet Durban fans are steaming furious. Curious: Do they ask prior contestants to make statements or did Adam just offer up. Just can't figure out why he would want to dis anyone at this point, even if it is true. Is it necessary? And the thing about Pia. She's gone. Was it necessary to say something about her? I think this is part of the I align-with-the-winners game. It's a little tiger-eating-the-vulnerable for my taste. Does it make Adam look better, stronger, more honest, more kick-ass? I'm asking this honestly. I would like to know the method to the madness. You all know I love Adam. It is just a little cut throat and really has to hurt Pia and James at this point. CAn't Haley be lifted up without the others getting crushed? I'm with you on this one. I think when Adam gets a chance to think about it, he will probably apologize. Believe it or not, our wonderful Adam makes mistakes sometimes. I think that interview was one. Adam wasn't the only former idol talking about this year's cast. Several of them came out with their thoughts on the top ten. I think former idols should watch what they say about the current crew because it causes a backlash. Sometimes I wonder if Adam understands his power yet. Yes, I think Adam's opinion holds a lot of power in the Idol world and outside of it for any singer and, because of this, a critical word from him may be felt a little deeper. (Just because I'm biased doesn't mean it's not true: ) |

I remember that quite a while ago - maybe the RS interview? - Adam talked about discussing AI with his friends, before he ever auditioned. That they'd talk about who they thought had "it," who they thought would/could be a hit, etc. Like all AI fans do. I think he's in that mode, watching and reacting to the show, as a fan as much as, well, AFL and everything else he's become. Also, I'm thinking of his recent vow to "keep it real" and drop the "pageant smile" and the "pc." I think he really said just what he thought - no premeditations or intentions beyond that - just as he might say to a friend before everything he said was reported. He wasn't cruel, but he wasn't guarded. He was blunt. I know, "if you don't have anything nice to say . . . " But I think that, to Adam, singing, talent, and performance are so central to who he is, so of interest to him, "his job" he might say, that his natural "nice-ness" isn't first and foremost in his mind - his real opinion is. (It's like the SuBo thing. I think he might really feel that her "Wild Horses" cover was more offensive than his laughing about it.) Exactly!!! The reason IMO that they're so upset is that Adam has a million followers and everyone listens to what he has to say while not everyone pays so MUCH attention to what the other idols have to say. Adam interviews are all over the media. They know that he influences people's mind. Every one who thinks Adam cannot speak honestly fuck them. OK. I understand what you two are saying and I understand your point of view. Of course Adam has every right to express his opinion. I also know these kids will survive the critique and it will help them develop a thicker skin. I am not judging Adam for having an opinion. (Well, maybe I am judging a little. I think his opinion has a lot of power.) I was wondering if there was something I didn't know about past contestants being asked to give their opinion. Looks like they are urged to do so. So, my lion eating the vulnerable comment was less about Adam and more about the system near the end with all the past contestants adding their opinions to the lot and choosing their favorites. That is part of what makes Idol Idol. It is brilliant in a kind of brutal way. But those kids come out super strong. And, I will openly admit that I am projecting my feelings, remembering what it is like when someone you really look up to and admire says something critical. I remember how much that could crush. Because I adore Adam insanely and see him as THE BAR I assume that these kids must as well. Developing a thick skin is important in life. Try as I might my skin is not very thick. I know I would have been crushed by harsh words from Adam if I was in Durbin's position with Adam as my role model/singing hero. So, yes, this is me projecting. Please accept it as nothing more or less : ) I assure you there is no need to defend Adam against my words. I need to toughen up a little. So if anything I need to take some pointers. Must say I'm loving these great responses though! IMHO James is too self assured to be crushed by Adam or anyone else.. That's his problem, he doesn't take advice. Basically that's what Adam was saying listen up.. and learn. I think Adam did him a favor. James has a lot of talent ,but he needs guidance on how to deliver it.Now if only the judges would judge . |
