Adam Lambert twitter header has gone dark, the first time in 6 years. I have to say, I can understand it. How can he not feel betrayed?
Ironically, this is what he tweeted out this morning:
ADAM LAMBERT ✔ @adamlambert
"...now I'm searching for trust"
What irony these lyrics have become today, because what he found in his own fandom, is a knife in the back instead.
1) Any fan, who has observed Adam over the years, knows that honesty means a lot to this man. How dare anyone characterize him as dishonest or as a thief of art, especially when talking to outsiders beyond this fandom.
2) Any fan, who feels they need to follow every breath that Adam takes and every word he says or writes, and follows people like Shoshanna, knows that both have, again and again, over the years, tried to clarify ownership of pictures to ensure that all is in order. That they are doing due diligence. That they are professionals and are doing the right thing.
3) Any fan, who follows Adam on twitter, knows that he asked this morning, where the artwork originated, because what he found was not marked.
Yet, this person, whoever it is, decided that they could make themselves important and get some kind of 'in' with an artist or that DA website, by presenting Adam online as a thief, as somebody who wants to use other artist's work illegally, present him as traitor towards some artist, who may or may not even know who Adam Lambert is. Who cares that this is a complete misrepresentation of anything Adam ever stands for, throwing him to the wolves, for whatever personal agenda that person had, when they wrote this.
To read here, that this person potentially was a fan (?), boggles my mind, and brings up the old adage: With friends like these, who needs enemies.
If this is true, and Adam got misrepresented and mischaracterized by his own fans, tbh, makes me sick, and to know how betrayed he must feel tonight, to leave his header dark.
This man, who since 6 years, lets us use pictures of him all over the place, lets us make calendars, lets us use his images as avis, lets us record his shows and defends us towards the venue 'security' at times, to allow us our joy of following him..., this man, who knows that there are fan-run websites selling t-shirts with his image, or sell merchandize on ebay, this fanbase that makes copies of his vevo videos, and some of these have hundreds of thousands of views, and on and on I could go....this man has to find, that when he dares to use a picture that he assumes is fan art, and for which he tries to inquire its origins, ...that his own fans betray him like this.
If this person is really a fan, I hope he writes a very long and carefully worded apology to him, because he deserves one. And if this person is not a fan he would still deserve it for the mis-representation of his intentions, but obviously, he is not going to get that.
In the end, he puts the pictures there for our entertainment, not because he likes to look at himself on-screen.
I really feel for him tonight, how alone must someone feel who gets abused like that, by his own fans. I see these Maxwell questions piling up....full of gimme, gimme more....wanting more and more of him. I would not be surprised, if all he wants to answer his fanbase right now, is a big and loud FU, instead of a bunch of silly questions.
He will have to get over it quickly, I am afraid, it is promotion time, but I bet it sucks balls to have to do that.
Thinking whether maybe we should make our avis dark, in solidarity, especially the ones that are using his pic, like I am, so I just did. Show him that we care and take note of his message to us, via an empty header. But it would take a few people probably to make this noticeable.
In the end it was only one traitor, not everybody. Many people here and on twitter were pointing out how wrongly this was handled. And again, I don't think the artist necesarily did anything wrong, even though she over-reacted and should have seen the marketing opportunity, but it is her right, not to see that, and rather insist on her rights as the artist. She was mislead, that is where the problem lies. Fans trying to poison the well from which we all are drinking. Well, I hope this fan is enjoying Adam's empty twitter header right now and feels really good in knowing that no picture was misused in the process.
And now I am leaving this ugly day behind and go to bed.
