Just hits me in my gut because he's so beautiful to me inside and out. I want to scream HOW CAN YOU NOT SEE WHAT I SEE??? Yes, I'm being silly but it's just one of those days. Okay, so I really don't know your friends...but I wouldn't put too much into it. I have friends who crush on celebrities where I can only say "huh?". I don't find them attractive visually and/or mentally and I am constantly amazed at how different "tastes" are. There are men out there that I would - only in my head as I'm polite - call ugly and other women crust hard on them. It's a weird world and imagine how boring it would be if the whole world'd hang out here at Atop All good points. I'm sure I've encountered this many times but never given it a second thought. With Adam, I take it so personally. Weird, huh?

I'm boggled ??? when I show a photo of Adam (like from Grammys ) or a video (of something sexy) & don't get a response on how gorgeous or hot he is. I always wonder if they really don't think he's handsome or they can't say it for some reason? I know everyone doesn't agree on looks of course and some won't like his more OTT style, but how can anyone say he doesn't look handsome at the Grammys for Christ's sake??? I think some of my friends just don't want to "give that to me" because he's had such an impact on my life and they're still dealing with that. And sometimes, I think it's because he's gay which is just sad. The part that pisses me off >:( is that when the shoe's on the other foot, I will tell a little white lie just to make may friend happy. Maybe I shouldn't but can't see the harm. Just hits me in my gut because he's so beautiful to me inside and out. I want to scream HOW CAN YOU NOT SEE WHAT I SEE??? Yes, I'm being silly but it's just one of those days. I understand what you're saying and I just got off the phone with my brother who I emailed a picture of Adam on the Grammy Red Carpet that he never commented on. I said "Come on...you can't tell me that Adam isn't one amazingly handsome man. He didn't have lots of glitter going on...he toned it down...and you have got to admit how good he looked". My brother just rambled on about nothing and changed the subject. : I just don't think he'll admit that Adam is an attractive man. Oh well...his loss! I had a straight male friend say "you know he's gay" when I first told him I liked Adam. At least by the end of the conversation, he said he'd check him out (his music that is).

rjackspf said "always wonder if they really don't think he's handsome or they can't say it for some reason? Mental block or something. When I told my DH (who is sweetly tolerant of my weird, unprecedented AFL obsession) that maybe Adam didn't win the grammy but he still got lots of attention by being on everyone's best dressed list, he said "Well, I thought he looked REALLY GOOD, so I'm not surprised." Trust me, if my DH was stricken' NO ONE could have been immune. (course my DH is not a homo-phobe in any way, shape or form) :D LOL! I had a friend say "he does look very put together" and "black is always classy." Couldn't just say. Wow, he looks nice! Put together??? I know she meant is as a compliement and for her, that's actually a lot but I'm always thinking "really?" that's all you've got? Better than no response at all I guess.

I am really confused by the article about Sony's new music service. They talk about it competing with iTunes but then they refer to it as a streaming service with a monthly fee? Which is it?
Just a few quick thougths:
1) Given how totally awful purchasing from sony is at Adamofficial.com, the whole idea of them selling music directly seems laughable. Maybe it is totally outsourced and will be better than expected.
2) The platforms listed for this new service are pretty good. Particularly the Android phones - you CAN'T use iTunes on a droid.
3) If Sony (and presumably the other 3 companies) actually pull out of iTunes, it may be sort of like Southwest Airlines - they are not listed on any of the travel service sites like Expedia - if you want to fly southwest you HAVE to go to their site and pretty much everyone knows that. If Sony can really get the word out that all their artists (and that is a HUGE catalog, not just current but past) are NOT at iTunes, then people may go looking for them and get used to checking 2 sites.
I would guess that the threat to pull out of itunes is just a bargaining chip - they probably want guarantees of fair treatment for their products even if their service is competing with iTunes.
Personally, I would LOVE a real competitor to iTunes. I dislike their software and hate that I HAVE to install it to purchase from them. If at all possible, I buy from Amazon just so I'm not supporting iTunes!

I posted earlier too quickly not realizing Sony will offer their own software, If Indeed consumers will purchase directly thru SOny, what is the benefit to the artist? A better commission? other than they have no say at which site the tunes are offered.

Inspirational quote of the day: "Try to live your life in a way that you will not regret years of useless virtue and inertia and timidity. Pick up the battle. Take it up. It's yours. This is your life. This is your world." --Maya Angelou Please tell me to shut up if you guys don't want me to post off topic tidbits. It just seems that I want to share things with ATOPers--kindred spirits we are. And, like I said yesterday, everything seems to have an Adam frame of reference anyway. This quote is from a wonderful epidode of Masterclass (on the OWN network) featuring Maya Angelou. I couldn't find any youtubes, but they rebroadcast all of the time. Try to catch it if you can. This applies to how I feel about Adam going on a little vacation vs diving into writing and recording his #2. The album is important but so is having a life. Next it will be # 3 then # 4. Right now Adam has found someone he enjoys spending time with and he hasn't had that for a while. Good for him for being brave and smart enough not to put that on the back burner. It is possible to have it all and I think he would like to try. How many people do you know who put things off thinking there will be the perfect time? There is never a perfect time in most of our lives. Men and now women work too hard and don't spend time with their children so they can give them a better life. That is a noble goal but by the time the parents realize the repercussions the kids are grown and don't have time or the inclination to go with the folks to the beach or camping or even to a movie. The only time you have is now and how you use it is up to you. One of the things I love best about Adam is that he seems to understand that and works very hard but also now that he has a record, a tour, and a Grammy nomination under his belt he knows that he needs a personal life with some substance also.
