I've been listening daily to my local pop station and to Venus. There are a lot of great songs out now. You know, I'm becoming a convert. I really don't mind the electronic influences that most vocalists use. It's a "sound" -- a technique. I can see where vocal perfection is not a necessity in this genre as the genre embraces all things - beats, dance, attitude, etc. I think what Adam has done with his diction and sound on this newest album will actually hit a chord with people listening and dancing to this genre. I'm very excited for him.
Also, I came to one realization - most of the songs I really listened to yesterday were about relationships - good ones, bad ones, new ones, etc. There weren't any related to my situation of being married for far too long (and liking it that way). But, as I thought back on dating and partying and breaking up and hooking up, it became relatable to me.
I'm not off to chase my original high but I "get it".

Yep. Mainly OT... BTW Eurovision Song Contest is a major talking point this week because the last eliminations are done (tues and thur) and the finale will be on saturday. The finale is a big event, people gather to watch together etc. Traditionally beautiful sung power ballads are seen as winning material although there are many 'poppier' winners like ABBA that Brian mentioned. Also the range of the songs is quite wide, some countries go with ethnic influences instead of standard euro-songs or outrageous choreo/imagery on stage and that makes it fun to watch. All is light fun, mainly. There are many exceptions but first coming to my mind are the only Finnish win with 'Hard Rock Hallelujah' in their monster costumes and the Russian great-granmas' participation not so long ago, for example. We had an angry punk song participating this year by PKN (as in 'Pertti Kurikan nimipäivät' the song was 'Aina mun pitää'), it did not advance to the finale but got a lot of good press for the diversity angle (the musicians are, sorry don't know the correct definition, developmentally handicapped). The band was excited to perform and meet Conchita Wurst, last year's winner (drag artist, ''lady' with a beard') but gutted and sorry for their elimination. (No reason to be sorry IMO, they did a good job but the song wasn't gonna be a huge favourite in any case.) Link to our song for lilly and like-minded readers (warning for others, it's really punk; if I may stereotype, not for nica or cassie or anybody else who prefer real singing, it's basically shouting but then again attitude is the main ingredient of punk and that they've got, lol) ht tps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEiM6l5meQI (copy and remove the space if you really want to listen to it, it's short though). ETA More OT but a loose connection as always. Sauli has been an 'IG keeper' for a betting company this month and will travel to the finale with a couple of lottery winners.

I highly recommend that those having problems with Magazine Cafe try using UKNewstand next time. They get the issues on the EU dates and their shipping is unbelievably low. Customer Service inquiries get a quick response too!

JustJared.com @justjared Which 'American Idol' alum would Adam Lambert want to duet with? He answers! jus.tj/l37“Vocally, I think both Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson are incredible, and they’re still kicking, and they’re still doing their thing,” Adam told viewers about who he would like to duet with in the future. “I was also a big Fantasia [Barrino] fan. I thought she was unbelievable.”
