Nice analysis, Mika. Agree with nearly everything you said. I'm also on team Vicci and don't have much use for the co-judges up to now. I like hearing Xtina sing bits and pieces along the way. Anyone know what the final prize is for The Voice? Yay, Team Vicci~~ According to website, winner gets 100K and record deal with UMG. I agree with you about Xtina. I forget how good she is but then she sings just a phrase and it's startling.

What time is the show on tonight? Is it 9P or 10P? Late reply but I'm on the east coast it's on at 10pm. It also replays on Wednesdays here.

I like these battle rounds. It's a mini-competition with instant gratification. I have agreed with all the choices so far except CeeLoo's. I preferred Tai.

For me, for you, the performances on this show are so far above anything on AI. They are seasoned performers. I like this show.

I am absolutely loving this show so far!! And they are all trying really hard. I think most of the judges have made very good picks. I swear I'm done with Idol and will be watching other singing shows. (Expect X-Fator to be a cheesefest, tho).

Yup, what we have here is a real singing/talent competition. These folks are delivering. "In it to win it" hahahahaha.
I agreed with all the picks tonight except possibly the last one. (I am so bad at names, I have already forgotten them.) I thought the gal was very good, but she was so in her preferred mode and genre. The guy was totally out of his comfort zone, but he stepped it up and delivered. Seeing that growth and that ability to sing against type makes him the better all-round performer in my book. With more potential.
But, overall, much more entertainment for my hour's viewing time. And Javier.... really impressive.

In all fairness, to Idol, many of these contestants are professionals. For instance, Frenchie was in the NYC Broadway production of Rent for 4 years. Javier was the singer in The Derek Trucks Band for years, before Derek and his wife, Susan Tedeschi decided to join forces. I guess these guys are competing because of the record deal? I dunno? Seems like if they haven't made it by now, why would this show prize be any different? Javier actually had a record deal with Capital and made 2 albums.

I guess they all got a chance to be heard in front of millions and hope for better record sales on their next albums.
To me all these contestants are new & never heard them before.

There must be thousands of great performers who have failed to achieve even mediocre success for one reason or another. Many of these people (IMO) are much better than those that are played regularly on Top40 and/or HAC radio. For instance I think Javier has a better voice by far than Bruno Mars. Clearer & brighter. Now I admit I've only heard him sing 2 times, but still.......... And I'm not saying Frenchie will be a successful recording star but appearing in Rent wouldn't have done much for a recording career. Rarely do musical theater performers make the jump to radio. No matter how great they are. They need a break of another kind if that's their goal. And this is all JMO cause I know shit about any of this.
